Howard Fields was a very good CB for Baylor in mid 70's. He had a little brother named Prince Fields. 5'10 in 7th grade and could 360 dunk a basketball. As a freshman at Killeen Ellison he was state ranked top 5 in 100 meters.
Ended up being shot and killed
is this Prince? http://www.tdtnews.com/archive/article_73b38c0d-8c91-5653-9794-72f478f0f5af.html
I believe so. He was a stud

One of the best athletes from my day in the Waco area was Scott Horseman (sp). He may have been the best HS pitcher I ever saw but he was in love with basketball. I've no idea what became of him.
Junior College basketball assistant for years at Lon Morris

John Henry deserves to be in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame for a whole bunch of good reasons.

I cannot believe he is not the THS HOF. Anyone mentioned Frankie Smith from Groesbeck yet?

Does anyone remember a Richfield (or maybe Waco High) stud around 19691971 who died in a car wreck on Waco Drive? He dropped something on his sports car floorboard, bent down to pick it up, and crashed. Big front page story in the Trib-Herald

I think his name was Frank Trampolina but I can't find anything about him online. I believe he was a QB or running back. A junior or senior. I was in the 8th or 9th grade at Tennyson Jr. High.

The name sounds vaguely familiar

I could be wrong, but I suspect Alabama had more players drafted last year.

http://www.footballdb.com/draft/college.html?c=Texas+A%26I

That is one of the worst databases on the internet. Here is just one team, the 1969 Texas A&I National Championship team with the folks that were drafted. That database doesnt show any of them (keep in mind that there were many other draft picks from the dominant teams of the 70s, the ones I was on):

1969 National Championship team, NAIA's Javelina's. Lots of future pros on this team: Matthews was a second round draft choice of the Green Bay Packers in 1970; Harrison was a second round pick by the Denver Broncos, Douglas was a third round selection of the Baltimore Colts and Browder was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1971; Small was a first-round draftee by the New York Giants and Edwards was a fifth round pick of the Giants in 1972, and Price was a first-round draftee of the Detroit Lions and Johnson a third round selection of the Lions in 1973.
