Athlon Sports makes call for big Baylor upset in 2018
Athlon Sports: Brewer set for breakout season | Mims a top 10 WR nationally | Rhule ranked against national coaches
After last season, picking Baylor on the right end of an upset is good news for Baylor fans. Saying Baylor will have a shot at multiple upsets might just bring tears to eyes of Green and Gold faithful.
That's exactly what Athlon Sports did in their latest piece previewing the Big 12 Conference. According to Allen Kenney, the Bears will pull off an big upset against their biggest rival in Waco.
Baylor over TCU (Nov. 17)
Baylor will knock off somebody this year -- maybe a couple, in fact. The Bears played hard for head coach Matt Rhule last season, his first in Waco. They’re catching the Horned Frogs on the back end of consecutive road games late in the year, and an upset here could signal the renewal of one of the Big 12’s gnarliest rivalries.
The upset would be massive considering the outcomes of the contests in 2016 and 2017. Though 2017 was less than a touchdown lead for TCU going into final moments of the third quarter, the Horned Frogs have disposed of the Bears by a combined score of 107-44 the last two seasons.
The good news is that the Bears are in the second rebuilding season behind Matt Rhule while TCU is looking to replace nearly their entire offense from a season ago.
ESPN's FPI predictor also calls the game a tossup with TCU having an extremely small edge in Waco.
