Honestly, I think you've hit on the crux of the issue in your last sentence. I think that is exactly what the BOR was counting on. I think the BOR was hoping that if we punished ourselves, any future punishments would be lessened. What better way to punish yourselves and show contrition to the world than to give a wildly successful football program (certainly by Baylor standards) a self imposed death penalty?

I don't know that Baylor was initially out to get Briles as much as he was a necessary casualty. That tells me that things university wide must have been pretty bad for Baylor to resort to killing the golden goose. When Briles didn't go quietly after the large settlement, then they got downright hostile.

I posted the basketball coaches could be replaced. Those salaries demand wins.
Kim only gets paid $200k less than Geno. She needs to beat him often and go to Final Fours. Sorry, I think she is capable and it has been longer than expected. I think Kim wouldn't respect coaches who cannot beat OU''s women at this point. It would bother me like it used to if they had beat us. Rhule was a great man to step in, get waste all over him and try to fix football. Our own conference is withholding our money to teach us to keep our trash off them. I posted the basketball coaches could be replaced. Those salaries demand wins.
Kim only gets paid $200k less than Geno. She needs to beat him often and go to Final Fours. Sorry, I think she is capable and it has been longer than expected. I think Kim wouldn't respect coaches who cannot beat OU''s women at this point. It would bother me like it used to if they had beat us. Rhule was a great man to step in, get waste all over him and try to fix football. Our own conference is withholding our money to teach us to keep our trash off them. Drew gets paid plenty. Good job for coaches. Drew did somethings he should have not done like hooking up with those handlers. He has annoyed me not finishing in the top 3 and not winning conference. Now, he is in first and might win the league (Drew might win COY). GO WILD! Beating Kruger is a big deal to me, he's a great coach.

Art Briles still does not have a D-1 coaching job. The Baylor Bears are Texas Bowl Champs. Our President has publicly stated that sexual assault and rape is just who we are and who we will always be. Life is good. All is well in Baylor Land.
