Thanks for the clarification - I wasn't sure as you can tell from my post
Quote:
Cotton: Only one without specific tie ins so they get the highest ranked AAC, MWC, Sun Belt, MAC, or CUSA champ. They will pair them with a very highly ranked at-large. Not sure if they have to take the highest ranking available or if they can have any leeway.

In years when the playoffs are not in the Peach and Fiesta what other bowls gets screwed in those years like the Cotton? I'd bet the Rose Bowl never is required to host an AAC, MWC, Sun Belt, MAC or CUSA team.
Is the Sugar always protected by Big12 vs SEC? How about the Orange Bowl?

Rose, Sugar, and Orange are contracted with conferences to fill spots. Rose is B1G Vs PAC, Sugar is B12 Vs SEC, and Orange is ACC Vs Best available out of B1G/SEC/ND.
Fiesta, Peach, and Cotton are not contracted with anyone.
The best G5 champ will always be in the Cotton, Fiesta, or Peach bowl.
The Cotton Bowl got screwed because they waited too long to move indoors. Other indoor and warm weather locations took the premium BCS spots and literally left the Cotton out into the cold, and dropped down in the hierarchy. Cotton went from being one of the big 4 to being a second tier bowl. It took them a while to work their way back into the playoff picture, but in years they aren't hosting playoffs the matchups are often disappointing.Aliceinbubbleland said:

Nope. Not going to happen and Burrow has the Heisman. It's his to lose.zunooreo said:
If OU wins out, and the championship, the NCAA won't allow the B12 to be shut out of the playoffs........and a (potential) Heisman finalist in Jalen Hurts. Just too must of a NCAA PR/Advertising opportunity would be wasted. And they won't allow that.
The "committee" will find a way.......
Sic'em.

Chaos can happen.
Big 12 fans should be big fans of the Arizona schools this weekend.

Since it is not a CFP bowl this year, it is automatically Big 12 vs. SEC. OU is likely out of the playoff, IMO. So, the Big 12 championship game is basically a Sugar Bowl semifinal, for the right to play either Bama or Georgia.Jack Bauer said:
Is the winner of Big12 CCG automatically sent to the Sugar Bowl (assuming no CFP bid)?
PSU loses to tOSU on Nov. 23
Wisconsin beats Minnesota or tOSU beats Minnesota.
Auburn beats a Tua-less Bama.
LSU thrashes UGA in the SEC CCG.
BU beats OU in the BIg 12 CCG 34-31 with a stirring second-half comeback.
13-0 LSU, 13-0 tOSU, 13-0 Clemson and ?
They would choose the team that would travel to Jerry World best, which we'd have a good chance at. Thankfully, Wisconsin is slotted for the Rose Bowl. They would bring the whole dang state to the Cotton Bowl if they had the chance. They invaded Dallas for an opening season game a few years ago.historian said:That makes sense. But I would expect them to choose #2 Big 12 which is better than any of the other options.whitetrash said:
Cotton isn't a Big12 Bowl. It's an open NY6. So if OU doesn't make CFP and gets Sugar, Cotton could choose between us, 4th or 5th place SEC, 3rd place B1G or runner up Pac12 if winner doesn't make CFP.

How could Oregon be in the playoffs with 2 losses? The committee cannot be that stupid & corrupt. Regardless of how anyone feels about the Big 12, Oklahoma is the ONLY choice for #4.
Any other consideration is just a foul wind.
