Carolina has arguably the best running back in the league with the 7th pick in a deep QB draft. Even if they don't keep Cam, Carolina has the tools for success.boognish_bear said:

Could he get there from Temple? No.
Did Baylor desperately need a high character guy to clean up a nuclear waste site and to build us into a ranked program again? Yes.
Did both parties significantly benefit from the past 3 years? Yes.
Are we in a much better place to hire a long term solution now that the program has been re-established? Yes.
This is really depressing, if true. We get a great coach, who has done a great job, and we can't keep him? If Rhule leaves, I hope he can recommend a head coach like him. Baylor was going in the right direction, in football. Now I am afraid what the future might be, without Coach Rhule. A sad day for Baylor, and Baylor fans, if this report turns out to be true. I suspect Coach Rhule, will talk to the issue soon. I hope the report is dead wrong.

That's just his arrogance talking. We had a great year this year and overall he did a great job this year but there are always things that aren't done well. In this case pretty much everything on offense. Recruiting has gone back to the dark ages, too. If saying that hurt his sensitive feelings good luck in the NFL...
I'll be the first to admit he outperformed my expectations this season. I didn't think it was possible this year but he did it, so congrats on that one.
Rhule had a great year but losing him is better than having a coach that's trying to leave every year. The uncertainty hurts the fan support and the recruiting. Rhoades needs to hire someone that wants to coach in college and we'll be fine.

I agree with Bear2Be2. Rhule did an incredible unbelievable job for what he was hired to do. Bring back Baylor's good reputation, National perception and football team. Thank you , Coach Rhule. I'm glad for you and I'm happy for Baylor.

Rhule was a hired gun from the get go, one who is very good a bible speak and such.
This job was a stepping stone from the moment he got here, and he telegraphed it from the beginning.
Those that romanticised anything else were simply fooling themselves.
Maybe, just maybe, Baylor can now get a coach thinks Baylor is the destination.
Not saying Rhule wasn't a real good coach he is, but he has always been, from the outset, "that guy" who is engaged to a great girl, but still sleeping around with others on the side, until he finds a better girl.
Rhule is not a phony at all, he is what he is.
It sucks that he is leaving....I was hoping somehow he would decide to stay....but as the noise grew louder it certainly began to feel inevitable.
If someone had come to me and said three years ago there is a coach Baylor can hire that will restore the image of the program, lead us to an 11-3 season and a Sugar Bowl appearance, have us in the conversation for the CFP in the final week of the season, and have us ranked in the Top 10 within in 3 years....but then he will leave for the NFL....I would have done that deal in a heartbeat.
One of the next big questions...what happens with Phil Snow?

Some have said anyone would be looking for opportunities to better their life and job, and take care of their family, but this is not the equivalent of a low or mid-level employee or manager looking to increase their annual income by $10K -$20K, Will an extra one or two million dollars really make the difference in "taking care of the family" over the millions you're currently making? Seems like it's more about ambition, dreams, and desire than dollars.
However, I don't think there's any corporation in the real business world, who hires a new CEO, the face of their brand, and then pays him one of the top 5 - 10 salaries in the nation in that sector to recruit the very best talent available nationwide, and lead the company to the absolute highest in return on investment, stated as a goal to annually be in the top five in the country, and then allows him to openly and publicly flirt with competitors for a better opportunity. All the while professing the sense of a calling to his current position,...... showing an almost obsessive level of interest in the possibility of leaving for a different position in the most public of ways, garnering repeated national headlines which do absolutely nothing to advance his current company, or encourage potential talent to feel the confidence and commitment in his leadership to cause them to completely buy in......At some point, it's no longer an issue of how Rhule's treating Baylor, but instead becomes an issue of how Baylor allows itself to be treated by Rhule.

Little harsh, but I will admit when I heard him talk about building young men and loyalty and loving Baylor and Waco and raising his children knowing he had one foot out the door... it made me sick to my stomach. I have been with Baylor long before him and will be long after him. I know what went on behind the scenes here. He should never ever again say one word about loyalty to anyone at any time. I still don't really understand why our fan base and Regents fall for the "bible speak" and "God has brought me to this school" stuff.
All these coaches are hired guns....they come for a while and then they go.

He came and did a good job. It was a fortunate time to come because Big 12 has been down overall the last two years and the bowl games show that. We win some close games that a play here and there could easily be a loss. I doubt that he is a great coach but is a good one. Wish him well and perhaps the next coach can get us some 4 and 5 guys. Hard to keep turning 1 and 2s into 11 wins when the conference comes back .
