Rhule didn't take a dive. And it wasn't to build himself up.RD2WINAGNBEAR86 said:Yes.No argument here. Rhule tanked his first season to build himself up. And it seems most Baylor fans bought into it. Kevin Steele was a ****ty coach, but he never took a dive.bear2be2 said:Because Steele never played a 12-game schedule. He went 1-10 his first year at Baylor.RD2WINAGNBEAR86 said:With all due respect, Kevin Steele never went 1-11. And he SUCKED! Matt Rhule earned the comparison. Rhule had a whole lot of luck. He was a mercenary and that is okay. Really not that uncommon these days.DancinBear09 said:
C'mon man, you have to admit calling him the next Kevin Steele is a huge reach at best. Rhule has an infinitely better track record as a collegiate HC than Steele.
Unlike Rhule, he followed that up with two, three and three wins before being fired.
He used that first year strategically to rebuild the image and culture of the program and to weed out those who wouldn't buy-in to what he was trying to do. He did the exact same thing at Temple with the exact same results.
Anything built to last must be built right. That first year was about laying a strong foundation.
