Baylor (7-1) hits the road for the first time in over a month as the Bears travel to Fort Worth to take on in-state Rival TCU (3-4) at Amon Carter Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Articles: Baylor vs. Iowa State

Quote of the week...

Dave Aranda: “I think TCU would be very motivated. I think there's a rivalry to start. Their pieces are there, the talent is there. In watching the tape, it's been a little off here, a little off there. We need to be talking about doing 1/11th. There's eight guys, nine guys doing this, and then the two guys are not and whatever it is, and then they get hit. There's things like that, that show on tape. It is not something that is hard to diagnose. I think they're really close. And so I think for them to have a spark for them to rally, which I would anticipate they're going to do makes it that tougher of a game.

Craig Smoak’s Players to Watch

TCU — Wide Receiver Quentin Johnston

The former Temple Wildcats star has been one of the lone bright spots for the TCU offense, although he managed only two receptions for 5 yards in last week’s painful loss at Kansas State. In the two games prior, Johnston was at his best, posting back-to-back 100+ yard outings, including a monster performance against OU, catching seven passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

Baylor — Defensive Tackle TJ Franklin

TCU’s offensive line is suspect, and Franklin has a knack for making a splash play each week. Against Texas, it was running down Casey Thompson at midfield as he broke off a 25-yard run. The drive would result in RJ Sneed’s (sort of) blocked punt a few plays later. Baylor’s offense then produced their beautiful 14-play drive to take the lead and never look back in the fourth quarter. So which Temple Wildcat alum gets bragging rights after Saturday?

Curious as to why Smith wants in the game. He runs so much harder
My only guess is that Ebner gives us a better chance to reach the edge, get out of bounds and stop the clock.

It's dumb. Time stopped being an issue once we were one play away from FG range. If anything I was surprised TCU didn't call timeout when we got tackled in bounds right before that.

We didn't need the clock. We only needed a field goal

I can. Have you not paid attention the last 20 years? Patterson's squad always screw us.

Few key takeaways:

We didn't prepare for this week.
All the pressure is off next week.

Uhhhh....huh?
He failed to prepare these guys for an easy team. My only conclusion is he doesn't care enough to put forth the effort to win such an easy game.

That's a stupid conclusion.

Can we just take the L and move on. This team has already exceeded most fans expectations. No need to dump on a bunch of college students.

If I was a TCU fan I'm asking where this QB was 6 weeks ago. He played brilliantly.

We're fortunate TCU didn't win by 20.

TCU qb played like heisman winner. With average QB play by them we win

Once again, it was known by pretty much everyone that Meacham wanted to start Morris all year long. He was continually told NO by Patterson, which is one of the many reasons Patterson is no longer there.

We should've never let Zeno go. Gerry is a great game manager but he's not a great QB/passer. Thornton is open 7/10 plays and if Gerry even throws to him he underthrows him every. single. time.

We were beaten badly in 3 big areas..1) QB performance 2) Pass Protection 3) Secondary coverage..

But TCU's losses haven't been because of the offense. It's been because they couldn't stop anyone, statistically 9th in the Big 12 giving up more than 440 yards a game.

Why the FOCH did we pass when we had plenty of time to score a field goal? Even my wife told me and she has no FOCHING clue about football! I am not following the thread, just wanted to vent.... TCU is loving it!!!!

Good lord what rock do you losers crawl out from under of?

Zeno was QB3 when he transferred.

Again for the people in the back:

ZENO WAS OUR THIRD STRING QUARTERBACK WHEN HE TRANSFERRED

If Zeno wanted the job he should have won it. Instead he he quit. Don't compare our guys to someon that's not on our team

You don't get it fo you. It isn't about who TCU is starting, it is about beating Baylor at all costs. They will go out and lay a bit fat egg next week, and people will ask "what happened!?!". Some midwit will come on and claim "oh, well since people have tape of Morris now, they could scheme to stop him and that's why there was such a big difference." No. They answer is TCU plays this game like their super bowl every year and plays like they are the New England Patriots against Baylor. They will spend six weeks preparing solely for this game at the expense of all others.

Baylor treats this team "just like any other game" and then gets surprised when it gets clocked in the mouth and trounced.

Zeno was routinely picked off by walk-ons in practice. There were valid reasons he was 3rd string. Strong arm. Bad decisions. Not very accurate.

We laid an egg, I'll be dramatic for a bit. But life goes on. We got 7 wins and will play in a bowl. But this team is going to struggle to find another W. The secondary is horrendous and Gerrys average at best. Maybe will beat Tech to finish on a high note. Oh well life goes on

For the love of God could we stop talking about Zeno. He wasn't good enough and quit. Plain and simple

Defense made to look like a clown all ****ing day. If it was a run, we were just fine and shut them down. Problem would be they threw for 400+ and there was zero adjustment to that fact. Multiple break downs in coverage gave huge plays and TDs. Our blitz scheme was a joke... We blitzed 5-6 men multiple times against their 5 and lost. We do late developing blitzes that have no chance of getting to him and we get shredded as he gets rid of it so fast we were not even at the line when the ball came out. CBs not looking for the ball on passing plays, running 3-5 yards behind every TCU WR as well.

Bernard and Pitre are our best by far, but both missed sacks and blitzes at some big moments. Bernard twice lost his footing on a straight line blitz like he was trying not to run through him. Pitre that missed sack last in the 4th was a killer.

Offense... Their undersized DLine and LBs ate our OLine apart almost all game unless we went straight at them. They were way to quick to the sides generally to even have a chance. GB was abysmal honestly, he under threw multiple TD balls and he still never makes it through progressions. He goes 1, maybe 2 at best. Morris threw to 10 different guys... He looked everywhere.

Coaching... zero adjustments by the defense, nothing changed at all. Offense was a joke of most play calling, we would call so many later developing routes that either GB under threw, missed horribly, or etc. I don't think other than 2 TE passes did we even use the middle of the field.

The after game media had better be rough and tear them up to get real answers as to the prep and lack of any change to improve their situation.
