great game tonight. Kyrie and Steph were amazing.

I had to chuckle at Marcus Morris committing two obvious fouls down the stretch and throwing absolute tantrums about both. Just goes to show how shocking those fouls were to a former Kansas player. Those fouls never get called on Kansas in college and he doesn't know how to adjust.

Was a great game.

Kyrie is showing why he's a superstar. He gives the Warriors fits damn near every game (except the past Finals).

That Boston defense on the in-bounds is really good. They've won about 3-4 games with it this year, with Houston being the latest victim.

Not Cavs or Celtics related, but Blake Griffin going to the Pistons for Avery Bradley and Tobias harris.

I wanted the Cavs to make a run for Bradley, but that was too good of a trade to turn down

Roughneck, I know Kyrie hasn't played the last 2 games and of course we know #2 is still out with an injury (Hayward). We know Hayward is a long shot to return for the playoffs but still possible. Anyways, the Celts still took care of business.

How did the Cavs do without their #2 in recent games?

Boston sources continue to say that Hayward will be back for playoffs but not more than 20 minutes a game.

Over the last three games the Celtics have been without Hayward, Kyrie, Smart, Morris, and Larkin. Just shows what Brad Stevens can do.

I know the fanboys are really hoping that Lebron goes to Golden State or Houston so that there will be someone for him to pass to when the iconic shot needs to be taken.

Stevens is a great young coach, can't argue with it

Hayward would be crazy to come back, although I'd love to see him back from such a freak injury.

What fanboys are hoping to see him in GS or Houston? He won't go to GS. He would however go to Houston, but it won't be because of some "last shot".

If he leaves it's to dethrone the Warriors, not the Celtics. Idk how many times I have to tell you this lol.

Sources are saying Gilbert wants to be the "Jerry Jones" of the NBA so thats certainly not a good look when you're not doing anything to help the best player in the game

this is gossip that probably has no bearing on what will actually happen but one of my friends in California sends their kids to the same private school that Chris Paul's kids were going to when he was with the Clippers. Before Paul went to Houston, he had said the plan was to get Harden, CP3, Lebron and Carmelo together in Houston. I filed it away mentally.

Will be interesting to see if that materializes.

To be honest, I can see it happening even more now.

I thought that Gilbert would be more involved in trying to keep Bron, but nah. From someone who follows Cleveland basketball and Lebron. HE IS GONE lol.

I see Lebron doing something similar to Chris Paul (sign and trade with the Cavs and pick up maybe Gordon, Anderson, some other players, and a pick) and then turn around and sign Melo and probably Wade (Banana boat) as well for the minimum.

must win tonight for the Cavs. Eastern conference championship preview taking place in Toronto between the Celtics and Raptors. Cavs can't afford to lose to the lowly Magic.

Definitely not a must win lol. Yea you're right, it's not like the Celtics didn't lose to this "lowly" Magic team last month.

to the 2nd best team in the East. Raptors are for real.

Cavs defense give up another career high to Jonathon Simmons from UH (34).

Raptors are always for real in the regular season lol.

Johnathan Simmons is really good, underrated as well

Dont mind me, just stopping by to say that "Beta" Lebron James is and will go down as either 1a or 1b. Have a nice night

Well...Im at a lost for words lol.

Gilbert really wants Lebron gone.

Just traded IT, Frye and Clevelands 1st pick for Nance Jr and Clarkson....Wow

I heard rumours about IT being traded, but the Cavs just got ****ed here. They could've packaged him off with the Nets pick for Walker and Howard...

Maybe they're using these guys as pieces for another trade, but I'm in complete shock.

Oh my God. This is complete madness.

Cavs trade Wade back to Miami

Cavs trade Crowder, Rose, and Shump for Rodney Hood for George Hill.

Ummm Idk what to say...Lol this is beyond imaginable

Crazy is an understatement. This is unimaginable.

I only expected 1 huge trade, Gilbert said **** it and went even further.

I'm not sure if the Cavs got better, worse or the same.

I really like all of these moves. IT wasn't fitting in and Channing didn't see any minutes in the finals last year. You move those two guys and bring in a couple young athletic players with upside. Nance is Cleveland royalty. He belongs with us. Then you ship out often injured Rose, underwhelming Crowder, and nonexistent Shump for Hill and Hood who are both defensive upgrades and were major contributors for their teams.

We traded Wade for a "highly protected 2nd round pick", ie a turkey sandwich. Tells me this was an altruistic move by the front office to give Wade what he wanted. Likely buying some goodwill with the James camp. Early word out of those close to Lebron is his group is very pleased with the moves. Cleveland gets younger, improves defensively, and doesn't give up a lot of our current primary contributors to do it.

Pretty impressive for an "inexperienced" GM in Koby Altman. Even more impressive if all the haters saying Gilbert is running the show and Altman is a puppet. It may all work, it may not. But at least we had the gumption to admit what we had was definitely not working and make significant roster changes to try and fix things. Say what you want about Gilbert. He's passionate and he puts his money where his mouth is because he wants to win.

The most underrated aspect of that lakers trade is that by trading our own first rounder away, we are unable to trade the Nets pick per league rules. Anyone demanding it in trade talks, it is now officially off the table and it can't be held against us for withholding it from conversations. That pick is the safeguard for James leaving. If he does, we've made enough moves to remain competitive and not have to start building from the ground up. The last time he left we were instantly the worst team in the league. If he leaves this time, that won't be the case. This front office is doing their best to ride that fence of positioning the team to win and retain LeBron, while also ensuring hes departure doesn't tank the organization.
Sic Everyone.

Ok, after settling down (I love the NBA trade deadline), I've come up with the conclusion.

I wont say Cleveland has officially gotten better until I see it on the floor, but on paper, they have definitely improved. They've gotten younger, more versatile, and a new fresh atmosphere.

George Hill will be the starting PG. I like him because he doesn't demand the ball, hs can play off ball and should work well with Lebron. Also has very good defense.

Rodney Hood is pretty good. Inconsistent at times, but if he's on, he can really go. Plays pretty good defense as well, and can play the 2-3 as well.

Nance is a high energy guy who i like. Can play pretty good defense as well. Will definitely dunk on you (ask KD).

Clarkson is a pretty good 6th man. Score first mentality, can come in and give a huge boost as well.

I wanted the Cavs to get a rim protector before the deadline but it doesn't seem like that will happen.

IT just never came back 100% and I don't even think it was his play that got him traded, it was his comments after losses in my opinion.

Crowder wasn't the Celtics Crowder, Frye was such a great locker room guy, but PT rarely came for him, Shump has been injured all season, and Rose was never really going to hit his stride.

Excited to see how they all mesh. i expect a starting lineup to be:

Hill
Hood or Smith
Bron
Love
Thompson

with Clarkson, Cedi, Nance, Green, Korver off the bench

to return to the original topic of this thread. Cleveland traded Kyrie Irving for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance.

Actually we traded Kyrie Irving for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Rodney Hood, George Hill, and a top 5 Brooklyn Nets pick. We were also able to completely reshape our team, get younger and more athletic, and make moves that should improve our defensive versatility.

I'm good with that outcome. It doesn't matter what you think of that outcome. You aren't a Cavs fan.

Melo is in Okc for at least through 2018-2019. The plan was for the stars to gang up again to help Paul and Melo get rings. The odds are long these days to see them gang up.
Cleveland made some great deals because Lebron is leaving and places like Cleveland and Detroit cannot draw free agents.
Cleveland wins the east with the new additions.
FormerFlash

I could still see them trying to rendezvous in Houston. Guys will have to take pay cuts to get in order to make it happen but that might be the price of getting Melo and Paul rings.

Well the Cavs got payback on the 3 teams that embarrassed them this year in the Wolves, Celtics, and Thunder.

New team looking pretty good so far, let's see what they can do in the second half of the season.
