That one has always stung. If he had developed as anticipated, we would be able to go Flo/Jon/Josh O/Loveday with big rotations or even 2 bigs (C/PF) in a game like this. I think Loveday was just an ill-fitting part.

He was recruited when we were running zone and using our post players more offensively.

He didn't fit nearly as well on teams that rely heavily on the no-middle defense and the pick-and-roll.

Spot on. Way back when, we always had several bigs and all played a lot. But as Charles Barkley was saying earlier, it's not about size anymore it's all about getting up court fast and shoot from the perimeter. No more Karem vs Wilt basketball. Drew has gone that way with the 6'5-6'7 shooting wings like Sochan, Bridges, Brown, et al. We have a 7' guy coming in next year but assume he's a Dirk type seven footer and not a true post.

Two different sports, I realize. But a reminder that everyone thought when Memphis hired Penny that his notoriety andNBA fame would mean Memphis would sign top recruit after top recruit and Memphis would be a power again. He's gotten nowhere close to it.

People think Deion is automatically gonna turn CU into a football power just because of his notoriety. The fame attracts recruits, but it doesn't mean you're automatically gonna become a power.

And it's a helluva lot easier to do it in basketball quickly than football.

This TCU-ASU game has been the most entertaining game of the tourney for me. Just crazy shot making on both ends.

SEC gets 6 of its 7 teams (sorry Aggie) into the R32. Pretty stout. They all got pretty good matchups.

Also, that FAU-Memphis ending was wild. Great inbounds play with under 6 seconds for FAU, and great job of not panicking by FAU.

Afternoon brackets were fairly boring and mostly went as expected. Had a feeling the night games would deliver!
