exactly. and it's not a terribly compelling argument. just means both front runners are equally (and significantly) unpopular.

it's human nature to want to vote for someone admirable. But we are not likely to have that choice next election. It's going to be two very old horses running on a muddy track. 2016 was won by the candidate who was not Hillary. 2020 was won by the candidate that was not Trump. 2024 will likely be won by the candidate who is not Biden.

It's not hard for the GOP to find a way to win. All it takes is flipping three states lost by very small 5-digit numbers. And now, the GOP is out working on the most important thing it MUST do to overcome its deficiencies. If we don't up our game on early/mail-in voting, it will not matter who is our candidate.

It's a ballot acquisition game in many states. Legal, not legal, it doesn't matter. Save money on rallies and hire lawyers instead. Push the gray areas and keep the ballots coming for your side. If you are losing the battle with live voters on election day, make sure the machines don't work.

Just a word about 'Interactive Polls'.

There is a bit of disparity between the results from 'interactive' polls and polls which use traditional RDD method. The key difference is that participants in the interactive poll seek out that poll in order to participate, while RDD seeks more of an 'average opinion' on an issue or candidate.

One should not be confused for the other.

I don't think the poll was interactive. That's just the name of the Twitter account, which in turn was linking Morning Consul polling.

MC is a reputable unit with a good track record. Some cycles in the middle of the pack, others near the top.

Morning Consult has used mixed media polls before. A lot of polls are doing that now to save money, but it makes for a less trustworthy product.

Reading their methodology, they contact 4,000 registered voters who have specifically identified as both Republican and likely to vote in the 2024 Primaries. To get a respondent pool that big and that defined a year ahead of the primaries, while delivering regular poll results, is heavily indicative of either a static pool of poll respondents or a fair amount of online polling is being done.

Trump Shares DeSantis 'Grooming' Accusation Just as Governor Defends Him

Former President Donald Trump boosted an accusation that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was guilty of "grooming" underage girls shortly after DeSantis defended the former president over the "Russia collusion hoax."
DeSantis, who is widely viewed as Trump's likely 2024 GOP presidential primary opponent despite not officially announcing his candidacy, took part in a roundtable discussion about "media defamation practices" on Tuesday morning.
During the discussion, the governor referred to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into allegations that Trump's 2016 campaign team colluded with Russia as the "Russia collusion hoax," echoing a phrase that is often repeated by the ex-president himself.

Within hours, Trump went on a rampage against DeSantis in a series of Truth Social posts. In two posts, Trump shared an image that purportedly showed the governor drinking alcohol with teenage girls that he was responsible for teaching at a high school in Georgia.
Trump on Tuesday shared an image to Truth Social claiming that DeSantis, his potential 2024 GOP primary rival, was allegedly guilty of "grooming" underage girls while working as a high school teacher.
A version of the image shared by Trump on Truth Social featured the caption,"Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher."
The former president commented, "That's not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!" While sharing the picture a second time, he added, "No way?"
Some on social media were quick to point out that the Florida governor and his teamhad previously pushed rhetoric baselessly claiming that LGBTQ people are guilty of "grooming" children.
"Ron DeSantis has waged a hateful war against the LGBTQ community and frequently called all of us 'groomers,'" writer and actor Benjamin Siemon tweeted. "That Donald Trump is now insinuating DeSantis is a pedophile is truly delicious and deserved."

Trump shared another Truth Social post on Tuesday that accused the Florida governor of not supporting Trump's border wall in 2018, prompting the former president to suggest that he regretted his endorsement of DeSantis.
"Wow, if I knew that I wouldn't have Endorsed him (and he would have had to quit the race, down 35 points!)," Trump wrote while sharing the post.
The former president shared additional posts that blasted DeSantis for denouncing "Trump's obsession with election fraud" and saying that he was "glad" violent January 6 rioters were arrested following Trump's 2020 loss to President Joe Biden.

Trump is running, that's all. Nikki H is also running, so for all practical purposes they are equally relevant candidates.

That is, it's reasonable to weigh skills and experience. Emotional rants, not so much.

From where I sit, Trump's problem - his biggest one - is not his so-called 'negatives'. It's the simple question of why Trump would be the best choice for President in 2024.

Trump has not really done anything yet to make that case.

Biden bad? Yeah, we know that but why would that mean Trump is the automatic choice?

January 6 bother someone? OK, but seriously the facts don't indicate Trump had any direct involvement or ever broke the law.

My point is if we're going to weigh candidates for 2024, let's focus on policy, economic conditions, demographics.

We don't need screeds of any type.

Kind of hard to argue that someone with Trump's following is equally relevant to a novice candidate with little support. We both know right now Trump is the front-runner.

Trump has done plenty to make the case why he would not be the best choice for President in 2024. Anyone who doesn't recognize that has their head in the sand (or some place else).

How many photos of him and Epstein do we need to see? Covering up payments to playboy models and porn stars to hide his numerous affairs? If this is all Trump's got, he's shooting blanks.
