It's really shame that TC repeatedly lies to his vast audience.
He used to be one of my favorites.
I don't like TC's histrionics and his forced laugh bugs me.
Don't go out of my way to listen to the guy.
But in this particular interview his comments are correct.
Really? Not a sovereign country? Not a democracy? In the last 25 years, there have been more presidents elected in Ukraine than Russia, Belarus, and Kazahkstan combined. International monitors have deemed Ukraine elections among the freest and safest in the world.
A U.S. stooge? In 2014 and earlier, Ukraine's gov, intel, and business community all were heavily infiltrated by Russians. And . . . Ukraine was such a U.S. stooge that it elected pro-Russian majority governments. Yes, people rose up after VY did numerous things he expressly campaigned against - nixing the EU deal; imprisoning the opposition; media restrictions; expanded his security apparatus, and so on.
Even then, our EU allies agreed to the compromise deal, which we supported. Why would we do that if were intent on regime change? The absolute most that can be said is that the U.S. and our EU allies "supported" the cause of the protestors. But, that was no secret. Everyone was transparent about it.
Then, three more free and fair elections.
Tyrant/dictator? The Ukraine Constitution authorized martial law pursuant to the invasion. Ukraine would have been stupid not to institute martial law. How in the world do you hold legitimate elections, when half your country is gone or occupied? Who votes and how? Who pays, the U.S.? How do you ensure security and safety from Russian missiles?
Yes, there was an election during the civil war . . . a Union election. The Union was not occupied nor invaded en masse. WW2 was fought on other continents aside from Pearl Harbor at the start.
Setting all this aside, I'd love to see Tucker ask the question whether he thinks Zelensky would lose. He's enjoyed strong approval ratings. More importantly, there has been no material effort to oust him or even hold an election. I know it pisses some of you off, but Ukrainians support him. Polls have consistently shown 80% of Ukrainians want to postpone a vote until after war. Where I come from . . . abiding by the Constitution and listening to your people is a good thing.
As for the Russian-affiliated Church, it's been covered in detail since the start of the war. The UOC was long affiliated with the Russian church, led by Kirill, a close friend and former KGB colleague of Putin's. He has openly supported and helped with the Russian war effort. Even the Pope called Kirill Putin's altar boy.
There are recordings and a plethora of other evidence of Russian-affiliated priests in Ukraine colluding with Russia. Some of these priests have been involved in citizen/prisoner exchanges and were welcomed as heroes in Russia. Ukrainian priests and many of their membership oppose the Russian support and support some of the measures. The U.S. and other countries have never been kind to traitors. In fact, we kill them. Ukraine is going easy.
And Ukraine has been recognized for its religious freedom and has one of the highest % of Christians in the world. You want to talk restrictions on Christianity? Try being openly anything but Russian Orthodox in most of Russia.
If we were invaded by China, do you think we would take action against Chinese churches supporting the invasion and partnering with China? Yes, we would, and I would support it.
TC likes to say 'Putin has never called me racist." But, indeed he has, probably more than any other world leader. One of the key tenants of Russia propaganda about the U.S. is our "racist society" and "racial unrest." It's in Russian media every day.
TC was embarrassed by and taken advantage of by Putin. It was pathetic. He let Putin go unchallenged on countless lies and historical inaccuracies. I wish I know what happened to him.
