As I predicted it is just as likely Trump will get butt hurt and drag us into a direct conflict with Moscow instead of letting them grind down their population against Ukraine.

Admittedly I've hardly been Nostradamus on any of this . . . and have been flat wrong trying to read Trump's mind on Russia/Ukraine.

But here's my latest. I think Trump now knows he will not get a deal. More and more chatter of Putin agreeing to nothing. Problem is, Trump's promise to do so was a primary campaign promise.

I think he's angling to say, "Hey, I did everything I possibly could, far more than Biden even tried to do. But the fact is, neither Russia nor Ukraine wants a deal. So we're just getting out. No more money to Ukraine."

Funny line

But a Franco-German-Polish alliance today would run through Russia like crap thought a goose

And this time they would have plenty of deep winter gear
They and what army?

The really big and strong one they could build....if they cared to do so

(France: 65 million, Germany: 80 million, and Poland 38 million)

he's manhandled Ukraine into coming to sign the trade deal. Now he's going to beat up on Russia just as bad as he's beat up on Ukraine, to get them to the table.

He's being even handed.

Another way to look at it, Ukraine is about 9,400 miles away from us. Russia is our neighbor, 2.4 miles across the Bering Strait. Work out relations with Russia by any means possible, even if it means getting their attention first.

Even handed? He stopped all support and intel, and it costs numerous civilian and soldier deaths and led to a disaster in Kursk.

And on the same day (today) he first threatened Russia, he later said Russia did what anyone would do and expected them to do it. In other words, he knowingly allowed Russia to bomb civilian targets and encircle Ukrainian troops in Kursk.

Why would Russia come to the table? We're tapping out and Europe doesn't have the fortitude or capacity. They've been intending to conquer the whole of Ukraine from the outset, and the door has been swung wide open.

I'm blaming Trump for pulling support and intel, which directly caused civilian and solider deaths and potential loss of Kursk. Trump even forced a private American satellite company to cut off access. It's actually sick.

What sources have I cited, and what have I said that's not true today?

I've mostly used Trump's own quotes about Russia and Ukraine.

Since you won't answer questions or even engage in specifics, I'll try some yes/no.

Did Trump stop all support and intel, including making a private satellite company cut-off Ukraine?

Did Trump specifically state that he did these things to send a message to Ukraine?

Has Putin bombed major civilian targets and energy infrastructure since we stopped finding and intel?

Did Trump say today that he's mad at Russia for escalating and then threaten to hit Russia with severe sanctions?

Did Trump later today seemingly reverse course and say he expected Russia to do what it is doing (escalate, including civilian targets) then also say he still think Russia wants a deal?

[Hint: The answer to all of these is yes.]

BTW people call me out because I'm one of the few who is willing to criticize (but also compliment) Trump.

don't really need to go much further than last week, when he showed up to sign a deal and then started re-negotiating in a presser in front of the American press. He could have had America joined at the hip in business, but he wanted to win an argument about what untrustworthy *******s Russians could be rather than do the smart thing.

Don't know, sounds about right, and just a guess but I'm betting Putin won't let anyone but Trump "win" for making peace. Putin absolutely must say no to everyone in Europe. Trump's posturing towards Russia to date has been one of being willing to cooperate.

The loss of Kursk is and always has been inevitable.

Putin has announced his demands for a ceasefire. As predicted, they include withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the contested oblasts in their entirety and a guarantee not to join NATO. If the Ukrainians agree, they can avoid losing the rest of their territory (which they could also have done in 2022 without sacrificing hundreds of thousands of troops).

Just because someone was in the KGB or CIA does not mean they are some kind of genius (Putin is entirely average in intelligence…and it speaks more to Russia's political disfunction than his intelligence that he is in charge)

And Trump has proven to be remarkably adept a political games and interpersonal skills

Trump has taken on the entire establishment of both political parties, corporate America, the entire Media & Academic systems and come out politically on top when no one else thought he could do it

Your whole "Putin is playing Trump by stroking his ego" is such an old and lame take it belongs to a reddit post from 2016

As Rubio admitted, the parties never had agreed to all the key terms of the mineral deal. Only the mineral portion itself. Trump and Zelensky gambled that they could close the gap in person. They didn't. As I've said from the second it happened, Zelensky made a huge mistake that day, but he never reneged.

Someone… anyone … please try to explain what Trump is doing.

he's manhandled Ukraine into coming to sign the trade deal. Now he's going to beat up on Russia just as bad as he's beat up on Ukraine, to get them to the table.

He's being even handed.

Makes perfect sense.

Don't know, sounds about right, and just a guess but I'm betting Putin won't let anyone but Trump "win" for making peace. Putin absolutely must say no to everyone in Europe. Trump's posturing towards Russia to date has been one of being willing to cooperate.
We'll see.
so he's been so willing to cooperate that he's been called a Russian asset. Now, we see him starting to spank the Russians. will his critics spin on a dime and call him a war-monger? Or will calmer heads see that he uses the carrot & stick rather dispassionately as needed to achieve a clear objective?

Even handed? He stopped all support and intel, and it costs numerous civilian and soldier deaths and led to a disaster in Kursk.

And on the same day (today) he first threatened Russia, he later said Russia did what anyone would do and expected them to do it. In other words, he knowingly allowed Russia to bomb civilian targets and encircle Ukrainian troops in Kursk.
Like I said, he's throwing elbows wherever they need to be thrown to get the parties to agree to his demands.

What exactly is the elbow he landed on Putin's jaw? His statement yesterday that he seemed to retract later?
he made significant threats. then he made an observation of fact which really didn't undercut the threats at all.

So total withdraw of $, weapons, ammo, and intel, including forcing a private satellite company to cut off access, on the one hand, vs. a 30 second sanction threat followed by statement that Russia still wants peace and did what we expected, on the other hand. Got it. Putin must be near heart attack level right now . . . .

Moving them to Poland would be cheaper or Latvia (better for their local economies as well)

Germany is an expensive place to station troops

Russia didn't encircle Ukrainian troops in Kursk today. They've been doing it gradually for the last six months.

How much aid is Trump giving to Russia? Looks even-handed to me.
Well, Russia's own media reported major advancements since Trump's pulling of support and intel.
