Well, perhaps a dumb thing for Trump to say, but look at the bouncing ball over here!!!

BTW, I think this post will go down in posterity as the first critical thing you've said about Trump (sort of) on this board.
While I would agree that Phelan has all the attributes of a beach ball, I certainly did not intend to be critical of Trump here. Rather of his critics, who are making a manifestly silly point. Hizballah is most assuredly a very capable organization. Before 9/11, they were at the top of the "most Americans killed" list. I spent the first few years of my career collecting against that target. One of my sources had big divots on his torso from healed-over Hizballah bullet holes. He was Shia, but tried to do his job (Lebanese govt). Paid a big price for it.. Hizballah is a very smart, serious, capable organization. Nothing wrong with taking an adversary seriously, which Trump opponents never seem to do and for that reason launch on attacks that usually do more damage to themselves than to Trump (as is the case in this particular instance.)
So, takeaway from this post is:

1) To clarify, you did NOT intend to be critical of Trump but instead the messenger who reported what Trump said. Gotcha. So you record of never-having criticized Trump remains intact.

2) The messenger is "profoundly stupid" for repeating Trump's words; and

3) You are going to ignore what Trump said about Israel after its 9/11, with women and children slaughtered, and merely focus on his comments about Hizballah.

Of course. Classic, whiterock.
I responded to the War Room tweet, which specifically mentions what Trump said about Hizballah - the "smart comment" as somehow being indicative of support for Hizballah. What a stupid point, as Trump noted in his allegory re the outcry on his similar comments re Xi. Anybody who can control China with an iron fist is no dummy. Hizballah, a now generational terror group, is definitely no dummy. Nothing wrong with acknowledging your opponents' abilities. Indeed, taking ones opponents seriously is what we should expect from our leaders. So the attacks he gets on that particular point are so misplaced that they do more damage to the attacker than Trump.

At the end, he slid segue-less into critique of an unnamed Israeli official. It wouldn't be in my nature to intentionally make that kind of statement about an ally at such a time. But events have indeed proven the comments by officials in question, in BOTH governments, to be "unfortunate." Officials from both governments made "i hope they don't" statements, which allows Hizballah to show strength by attacking. (perhaps the attacks were long-planned for that date. Perhaps not. But appearances.....) Trump was being typically Trump, very tough, making a harsh but nonetheless true observation that mistakes by dummies in both governments* have led to war. He's hardly the first to note that Israel was clearly caught off-guard, a 9/11 type intel failure. And his four years of peace is a contrast he has to make if he 's going to win the general election. So, no, I don't think his comments were a mistake or reflective of poor judgment. Dude has to win an election by destroying his opponents. He landed some blows there. And the shade he threw at the Israeli minister will play well with the growing numbers of Americans who are tired of us funding proxies and proxy wars all over the place.** Tough to hear. Probably politically effective, given the climate of issues going on.

You know, he does stuff like that all the time - saying stuff his critics insist is going to destroy him. Yet here we are, and he's clawed his way back from a low-point after the mid-terms, destroying what looked like some pretty stiff competitors in the primary,*** and now leading Biden in the RCP average in MI and PA. At what point should you start to question if your instincts might be off a little?

Yes, the thought that immediately comes to mind when thinking about the tyrant and despot Xi is he's very "smart" for being able to subjugate and control billions of people with an iron fist. I guess, in the same way, Hitler, Stalin and Mao were really smart people, according to Trump's reasoning.

The problem is, when you do not critique and instead praise an evil enemy as smart, and reserve all your petty criticisms for the people your enemy attacked, calling them "stupid," you just might be a ****ing ******* and undeserving of the high office of president.

And I have no doubt it played well to some, and won't affect his numbers in the least. As he himself acknowledged, we have people like you who would support him if he murdered someone on the street.

But you're still going to be severely disappointed in the general. Wait and see.

You're defending Fuentes? I'm surprised

Thanks for giving us an example of the pathological thinking of the self-styled moderate neverTrumper (a contradiction in terms of there ever was one) = harping on a contrived controversy involving a screeching troll that very few people have ever heard about rather than dealing with real current problems, like the broad support enjoyed in this country for a terror group that just slaughtered over a thousand innocents in the cradle of Judeo-Christian culture.
Meantime, some Republicans have no problem distancing themselves from Fuentes, the Adolph Hitler admirer.. You could learn a thing or 2 from them.

Dan Patrick says PAC leader's meeting with white supremacist was a "blunder," but will keep group's $3 million contribution
Patrick said Wednesday that he spoke to Dunn, who "told me unequivocally that it was a serious blunder" for Stickland to meet with Fuentes, and assured him that the political action committee would have no "future contact" with the well-known white supremacist and Adolf Hitler admirer.
Dunn "stated emphatically that everyone at the PAC understands that mistakes were made and are being corrected," Patrick said. "I accept Mr. Dunn at his word. I know him to be a man of integrity and an avid and staunch supporter of Israel."
Fuentes has frequently praised Hitler and questioned if the Holocaust happened. He has called for "holy war" against Jews, said he wants the United States under authoritarian, "Catholic Taliban rule" and fantasized about marrying a 16-year-old when he is older because that's "right when the milk is good." He has said that he would beat a "disrespectful" woman so hard that she would collapse like a building on Sept. 11, 2001. And he has routinely pushed conspiracy theories that claim there is an intentional, Jewish-driven effort to replace white people through immigration, interracial marriage and the LGBTQ+ community.
"All I want is revenge against my enemies and a total Aryan victory," Fuentes said last year.
https://www.texastribune.org/2023/10/11/jared-patterson-nick-fuentes-defend-texas-liberty-jonathan-stickland/

Do you remember Matt Rinaldi? Isn't he chairman of the Republican Party of Texas? Rhey have no problem denouncing the Hitler admirer.

Kyle Rittenhouse and Matt Rinaldi responded to our report, saying they did not know Fuentes would be there, and they did not personally meet with him. They both denounced him, without addressing Stickland.

I can't think of a reason to meet with a nutjob like Fuentes either. And I haven't. Nor have I ever had anything to do with Stickland or that PAC. So I have nothing to denounce, other than your incessant efforts to tie me to all that nonsense, which reflects far more poorly on you than anything I have said or done here = the same kind of muckraking the aforementioned people do.

I'm still waiting for you to go after the terrorists and their supporters here in this country, instead of making a round mouth for Phelan's divisive nonsense. It's almost like he's desperate to distract from his own difficulties. Notice, I'm not demanding you to DO anything. Just observing what you actually are doing and making appropriate conclusions. It's quite amusing to see a so-called moderate engaging in the same kind ****-stirring he criticizes those to the right him of doing. That's the central irony of the partisan moderate - they don't believe in anything terribly strongly except that they don't like people who do and will do anything to stop them, to include burning down the house, as Phelan has tried to do TWICE this year.
I started this thread.
I've condemned what Hamas did in Israel on threads. I've started a thread on the backlash against Hamas apologists in the USA.

I also have no problem condemning an Adolph Hitler admirer.
I can't understand why you won't say what Patrick, Rinaldi and Rittenhouse said about Fuentes.

To refresh your memory:
Fuentes has frequently praised Hitler and questioned if the Holocaust happened. He has called for "holy war" against Jews, said he wants the United States under authoritarian, "Catholic Taliban rule" and fantasized about marrying a 16-year-old when he is older because that's "right when the milk is good." He has said that he would beat a "disrespectful" woman so hard that she would collapse like a building on Sept. 11, 2001.
"All I want is revenge against my enemies and a total Aryan victory," Fuentes said last year.

And more Republicans take a stand:

October 9, 2023 4:09 PM
About 60 Texas House GOP members sign a letter condemning Defend Texas Liberty PAC for meeting with white supremacist
"We urge all members who have received funds from this organization to publicly disavow such connections and demonstrate our collective commitment to justice and truth. Anything less is a disservice to our oath and the people we represent."

For all those idiots who are still defending Gaza and Hamas...

Here is a video created and distributed by Hamas, which shows how the terrorists dug up their own water pipes, in order to convert the pipes into rockets.

So stop complaining about Israel shutting off their water. Those muslim idiots don't have water because they spent all their money and time pursuing death.

Dumb people always want to reduce the world into right and wrong, black and white. In this conflict there is nobody without fault. And quite honestly the British giving Israel the land was pretty botched. Most of the current conflict comes from forcibly removing an entire people from land they held sacred. Of course people were fighting over the land millenia ago too.

I wonder how many Americans realize Israel still allows Muslims with machine guns to control parts of Jerusalem in recognition that they have a right to their sacred places too.
