Won't argue. US got a lot of Urban experience in Iraq.

ah... that makes sense.

And I will agree that there are other similarities. Small geographical region vs. much larger & more powerful one. Ideological, ethnic and religious based conflicts. Use of terrorism. Urban warfare.

It is a valid comparison between North Ireland and Palestine.

I think the only real difference is that the IRA rarely used their own children as human shields. I also don't recall the IRA intentionally targeting babies.

Good friend of mine is from Monks Corner, lives in Dallas, but has a really cool beach house on the Isle of Palms. Great spot!

I agree with the Politicians and the media. Hard to not have the attorneys, there is a reason JAG Corps has been in existence since 1775.

JAG, as a rule, aren't the attorneys anyone cares about. Though their role is to enforce the rule of law when it has been broken…not to craft rules of engagement. They are rule enforcement not rule creation, imo.

Americans no longer have the stomach or balls to wage real war. I'm actually not sure anyone in the West does. Hell, among our allies im not sure anyone does.

On the whole, the world has become a very soft place…probably for a better. However, it means the places that aren't soft have a decided advantage in that they simply don't care what anyone thinks. Hamas does not care what the West thinks of them killing babies. They don't have to fight a war in the battlefield AND Twitter which frees them to be brutal. They just don't care about "hearts and minds" because they have [likely accurately] decided that the West won't do anything.
