"Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass"

Netanyahu quoting 1st Samuel to justify IDF military action in Gaza is not going to help the situation.

When I was really young my dad taught me "if you don't want to get your ass kicked you shouldn't start fights with people that can kick your ass".

That rule applies here. What is Israel supposed to do? They don't have any choice but to retaliate. If they don't it's welcoming more and more attacks. This is prison rules. Either you fight or people gang up on you and if you're going to hit back it better be hard.

Unfortunately that means real people, including civilians, will die and that's terrible. Would have been awfully nice if Hamas had not started this fight.

A ground war is a huge mistake.

Israel now assumes responsibility in providing for almost 2 million enemies.

And that's the least of it.

The only bigger mistake Israel could make is to not invade because everyone is telling them its a mistake.

Israel is fighting for their survival right now. They can't just sit back and watch every neighbor they have that wants them dead just pick at them
It's their land anyway. What about the innocent Palestinians ? They have believed the wrong people (Hamas) for too long.

There is no denying Israel is the 51st state that could not survive without our Defense Department.

There is no denying that Hamas and related groups are an extension of Iran.

The UK and USA helped create this mess in 1948.

These women and children in Gaza will never forget the terror they are living with if they survive.

We should know by the end of November if Iran is serious in claims to wipe the earth of Israel.

How ironic those who claim to be Godly continue to act Godless.

If course Iran is serious about wanting to wipe Israel off the earth. They have been sayin it for 40+ years and have been trying repeatedly through proxies to accomplish it. They are aided by antisemitic governments (the Middle East, Europe, sometimes the U.S., the UN, most dictatorships, & much of the rest of the world) who are all too willing to side with the terrorists against Israel. But they are not strong enough & the Israelis always fight back with great tenacity. They have to. Every attack is an existential crisis.

Our country's rapidly changing demographics ensures the reduction and eventual end of U.S. support for Israel.

Certainly within 20 years.

Our national suicide may precede or coincide with great trouble for Israel. But Israel is not going to be uprooted like the Christians in Lebanon were. Israel will remain.

Once US aid end; why not ?

Muslims already make up 18% of Israel's population.

Wrong. Israel did just fine before we came along to help. In fact, we only got in bed with them due to their success. They have money, nukes, state of the art weapons, and elite military. And, more importantly, the will to survive and win.

Israel has needed US aid since the 60's at least.

15 years ago maybe the people of Israel were united and their military far superior to their enemies.

No longer.

The only thing worse than the Scofield Study Notes are people who believe those study notes and carry around a nuclear football. Are SBC churches still showing convention distributed power points showing the glory of mass immigration or did they get rid of those when President Trump was elected?

As far as Dagestan goes, pro Palestinian protestors interrupted the USC-Cal game

The whole Jewish presence in Israel for thousands of years has already been discussed previously. About 2000 years of a Jewish Kingdom there followed by about 2000 years of the Jewish presence there having been virtually extinguished and the region's name changed to Syria Palestina.

Without doubt there were jews in the western part of the Levant between modern Lebanon and Egypt well before the the rise of the Roman Republic/Empire.

But much of what we think we know about the history there might be myth and not real history.

["Following 70 years of intensive excavations in the Land of Israel, archaeologists have found out: The patriarchs' acts are legendary, the Israelites did not sojourn in Egypt or make an exodus, they did not conquer the land. Neither is there any mention of the empire of David and Solomon, nor of the source of belief in the God of Israel. These facts have been known for years, but Israel is a stubborn people and nobody wants to hear about it. This is what archaeologists have learned from their excavations in the Land of Israel: the Israelites were never in Egypt, did not wander in the desert, did not conquer the land in a military campaign and did not pass it on to the 12 tribes of Israel. Perhaps even harder to swallow is the fact that the united monarchy of David and Solomon, which is described by the Bible as a regional power, was at most a small tribal kingdom." By Ze'ev Herzog (Professor, Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Cultures Department, Tel Aviv University)]

[In the Jewish Study Bible (2014), Oded Lip*****s states the concept of United Monarchy should be abandoned, while Aren Maeir believes there is insufficient evidence in support of the United Monarchy. In August 2015, Israeli archaeologists discovered massive fortifications in the ruins of the ancient city of Gath, supposed birthplace of Goliath. The size of the fortifications shows that Gath was a large city in the 10th century BCE, perhaps the largest in Canaan at the time. The professor leading the dig, Aren Maeir, estimated that Gath was as much as four times the size of contemporary Jerusalem, which cast doubt that David's kingdom could have been as powerful as described in the Bible]

Now tell us about the part where the holocaust never happened either.

If you want to imply that the Holocaust is as open a question as the Bronze Age history of the ancient Levant…that is certainly and interesting take.

If you had read the post you would notice it's all modern Israeli archaeology professors and academics doubting if there ever was a migration out of Egypt and casting doubt on the supposed regional power of the United monarchy (and if it existed at al).

One thing that can be said is that modern Israeli archaeologists are brave enough to question national mythos and question if they are in fact real.

Today Jerusalem has close to a million people. I find it highly doubtful that any ancient city had 4 million. That's the size of Houston today. I'm no expert on ancient history, but the only ancient city I know of with a huge population was Rome and supposedly it was about a million by some estimates (I'm going off of memory now). I cannot imagine any civilization 2,000-3,000 years ago would have the infrastructure to feed that many people, provide clean water, etc. The Roman Empire had aqueducts & other engineering marvels for their time but that was later and even 1 million would be pushing the limits.

Nothing unites a common peoples behind a single purpose than what Hamas did a few weeks ago to Israel. It galvanizes on both sides. Israel is united, and will be so for a generation. Not a single neighbor has a prayer of defeating Israel in combat. Otherwise, they would have already done it. Lebanon? A divided mess. Syria? A divided mess. Jordan? tiny, at peace with Israel. Egypt? At peace with Israel. Hamas? United, but allied with the progressive left. That will not last. The more immediate impact will be to drive enough center-left Democrats/Independents back across to Republicans to form a more traditional American coalition of the center.

Israel's neighbors are playing the long game....just like Saladin did. He could not dominate and drive the Crusaders out of the Holy Lands. He had to campaign, harass, besiege, for years and years, wait for attrition, mistakes, etc....then win a decisive battle. But he lost quite a few along the way.

Israel will survive every one of us posting on this thread.

Also... Don't let much about our experience with the Iraqi army tell you anything about Turkey or Iran. These are ancient nations in post imperial phases of their history. Both have professional soldiers who know how to fight. Iraq on the other hand was a British political construct and outside of the Ba'ath party and republican guard was nowhere near as cohesive a place.

Zero chance of that. The "center" has shrunk beyond recognition. Consider that despite two years of high inflation and a destabilizing world Karen still voted to trans the kids she can't abort. There is almost no chance a sizeable number of Democrat voters realign to support echatological fever dreams about Israel.
