The economics of home ownership just doesn't make sense anymore for 90% of home buyers.

The growing instability in the U.S. homeowners insurance markets could lead to a housing crash worse than the 2008 one unless policymakers act fast, the Senate Budget Committee has said.

Every time I visit Texas, a new swath of the Hill Country (one of the most subtly beautiful landscapes on earth) has been turned into this pic.twitter.com/FyQ60iGwIC

I agree. The Hill Country around ATX is hell. I used to have a lakehouse at Horseshoe Bay and the drive from ATX on 71 is just sad. ATX has lived its usefulness IMO.Redbrickbear said:Every time I visit Texas, a new swath of the Hill Country (one of the most subtly beautiful landscapes on earth) has been turned into this pic.twitter.com/FyQ60iGwIC

To me it was all ruined 20 years ago when the old backyard in Bee Caves turned into a shopping center. That was such a treasure and when it changed it signaled the beginning of the end. Its only a matter of time until the entire hill country is a metroplex like DFW and that is sad.Redbrickbear said:J.R. said:I agree. The Hill Country around ATX is hell. I'm going to guess the #1 reason for this is the price being high. If home prices were lower younger people could afford them better.
Home prices are now 47% higher than they were in early 2020, with the median sale price now five times the median household income. Here's how bad housing affordability is now https://t.co/tsrcE5d5tt
