From what I've read all the directly involved people were white...pilots and ATC....but I haven't seen that verified.

FAA reporting staffing wasn't normal for that time of day and business of the airport. I'm sure we'll get more info.

DEI hiring in the FAA is a fact

(Thought this crash might not be involved with that at all….its still an issue)

so because they're black means they're DEI automatically. That's an awful big damn bag of shlt to fill if that's your thought

My understanding is that the lack of controllers on staff was due to DEI restrictions denying applications by well-qualified white males.

So even if the controllers on site were completely qualified and the color/sex/orientation of your choice, the DEI aspect may still be relevant.

Staffing issue was unavoidable. 6 ATCs had their transition surgery scheduled on the same day.

If Black test scores were the same as those for Asian and White applicants then why would there be billions of dollars pouring into DEI programs Trey?

Is everyone who is Black a DEI hire? No of course not

But because of these programs we have no idea what the real number is…or who or who is not really qualified

In my work experience... being under staffed is the MAN trying to squeeze as much work out of as few people as possible for profits .

Not DEI.

This DEI is just some red herring people are latching on...if something goes wrong...scream DEI..

Not a red herring. But yes, shouldn't be screaming DEI for everything that goes wrong.

That seems like nonsense. Those jobs are often like pilots. They come from the military.

They were understaffed during this shift. I read that usually there are separate people directing airplanes and helicopters. During the accident, there was one directing both.

I'm sure the families would be very happier if there was a second person who could have prevented the accident, regardless of races, gender, age or sexual orientation.

The problem with this whole nonsense is it starts with the premise that the white male is qualified AND his failure to be hired is the reason for his rejection. Truth is, as a father with a daughter, I can say, the male game has gotten weak.

Here is what we have can say with certainty. Had the pilot been able to save the plane after the collision, Trump would have taken credit. It went wrong so let's blame.

I don't know how we can continue to staff a government with high morale when the CEO just puts them down.

Such a red herring that one single Federal Department spent $340+ million on it

Biden's FAA was actively recruiting workers from groups who should have been disqualified while illegally discriminating against whites. This is why DEI is important.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively recruiting workers who suffer 'severe intellectual' disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency's website.

Where is that discriminating against white people?

Without knowing the job, I can't tell you if this is bad policy. I do know not all jobs are Air Traffic Control.

I have no problem with hiring someone in a wheelchair to be an engineer and I support adding a ramp to help them get to and from work.

Sometimes DEI is not about discriminating against White people and Asians

Sometimes it's about just being idiotic and weird

What you posted is an example of that

The day after a tragic accident before any investigations?

Nah, can't agree with that. Fine to use the bully pulpit, but you should still be cognizant of time and place. He's done more damage to the DEI argument with the timing of his comments. Made it seem silly or frivolous, when it's not.

He did more harm than good, but the man has always been unable to read a room.

Beginning to appear that the FAA was in fact pursuing DEI hiring priorities; at the expense of competency.

Trump's comments, while certainly not emphatic, were accurate.

Americans shouldn't have to die because a relative handful of misfits 'deserve' employment.

This is interesting news if true.

I am not a big conspiracy theory guy, but one of my best friends is career military and a former army pilot who flew Blackhawks in Iraq. He is convinced this was a terroristic act, and that the pilot did this on purpose. He said it would be impossible for the pilot, not to mention one of the other people on board, not to see that jet and avoid it, even at night and with other distractions. Said even an inexperienced pilot would never have done something like this accidentally, and this pilot apparently had thousands of flight hours.

This may lend credence to his theory, if true.

would this person have been out due to new EOs? Rather cause a mess than be out of military?
