Some of that was a bit disingenuous because it made great headlines. I own a Snap On franchise. We (the company, not me personally) sell tools to the government at literal pennies on the dollar. They buy tool sets that would retail for $25,000 for less than $3,000.

Now when you need a hammer that won't spark, can be run over with a tank and also put into space and needs to be made from forged titanium and no such hammer exists on the planet…yeah they may just set you back $8500.

Usually when the price of an object was something the public thought "that's the dumbest **** I have ever heard" it's because they didn't realize what was being purchased or why.

Is there waste? Yes 100%.
Does the government buy stuff they don't need? Yes 100%

But I can tell you from first hand experience the quartermaster isn't just buying an $8,000 Husky hammer. In fact, when you make the request you have to be VERY specific "must be forged titanium for the purpose of Xxxxxxxxx" and I guarantee you're going to have 15 discussions with 20 people as to why it needs to be that and not an $8 hammer that supply already has in stock.

I think its definitely money laundering benefiting the democratic party and its members. I wouldn't be surprised if some republicans benefit too. It may not be direct, but its definitely a mechanism to get taxpayer money into the hands of politicians in a self feeding cycle.

USAID employees direct taxpayer money to NGOs which are founded by and owned by family members of democratic politicians and other washington insiders. The owners of the NGO can pay themselves a salary (whatever they what) and can also direct money to shadow companies (which they own) that provide "services" to the NGO. All legal apparently. Nearly everyone involved in this process leans left and donates to the campaigns of leftist politicians who keep the cycle going and accelerate it if they can.

Those that have been fleecing the taxpayer are very upset that Trump (and Rubio) are breaking this cycle.
