Sam, we are on the same side on this one. I was being sarcastic. It is the absolutely WORST case of Nation/Resort Building in the longest lasting never ending war on the planet. Yet, these guys are cheering it. They just spent 4 years complaining of being in never ending wars, Trump picks Gaza to turn into a resort and they cheer????

Their defense is not to take what he says serious, until it is. This is the biggest case of hero-worship crush or flexible moral compass or both that I have seen in quite a while. Cheering is a bit strong. Listening and recognizing that it's an alternative. And honestly anyone remotely supporting the idea doesn't believe that Trump will get us into a never-ending war. Actually I don't know. But you can't have the same people who WANT Hamas to run their "country" to coexist next to Israel on Israel occupied land. So the only options you have is for Israel to bomb them even further into the ground and more killings, or for the Palestinians to be relocated and reeducated. That means the surrounding countries will have to participate.

What I do think is that incentivizing the surrounding Arab countries with some form of partnership or ownership is likely the best solution. I don't think it will work because I don't believe the Arab countries want peace, but I'll wait to see. Maybe the opportunity for significant profit and prestige can sway them. I won't be like you who can't help but b&m on every single idea you don't like, which is pretty much every idea Trump comes up with.

Maybe the end result is that the US works with the palestinians and middle east investors to form a tourist destination. Similar to Indian Casinos (obvoiusly no gambling) but on a richer, grander scale. The palestinians are relocated in the interim, and many will be able to return to live and work there and improve their lives.

Hard to have a two state solution, when the Palestinian public overwhelmingly rejects the idea, and Hamas - an Iranian proxy - has the stated goal of the destruction of Israel and continues to try and scuttle any peace between the two. And of course, the other countries in the region, while saying they want a two-state solution, don't want it in practice, as they realize any Palestinian state will be a terrorist regime and proxy for Iran. There would likely already be two states if not for Hamas. But it's never going to happen.

I would say the fool is the individual who continues to suggest the same failed solution over and over, expecting different results. How long have we discussed a two state solution now? 3-4 decades? Only an idiotic buffoon believes anything short of a two state solution is a non-starter. As long as Hamas remains in charge, the real non-starter is a Palestinian state. It's never gonna happen.

There are many Israelis and Palestinians who think co-existence cannot happen peacefully without some form of a Palestinian state. They must have agency, and therefore responsibility. As long as terrorism or Israel is their overlord, there will be violence.

1. The buffoonery is thinking that its buffoonery not to believe that a two state solution is the only solution. And in that regard, I have approximately 80 years of bloody history to back me up.

2. All of the ideas about peace always seem to involve a bunch of hypotheticals that never actually happen. For example, your suggestion that the Palestinians might actually give up terrorism as a means to accomplish their goals. Again, I have approximately 80 years of history on my side that says that's never going to happen.

Hard to have a two state solution, when the Palestinian public overwhelmingly rejects the idea, and Hamas - an Iranian proxy - has the stated goal of the destruction of Israel and continues to try and scuttle any peace between the two. And of course, the other countries in the region, while saying they want a two-state solution, don't want it in practice, as they realize any Palestinian state will be a terrorist regime and proxy for Iran. There would likely already be two states if not for Hamas. But it's never going to happen.

I would say the fool is the individual who continues to suggest the same failed solution over and over, expecting different results. How long have we discussed a two state solution now? 3-4 decades? Only an idiotic buffoon believes anything short of a two state solution is a non-starter. As long as Hamas remains in charge, the real non-starter is a Palestinian state. It's never gonna happen.
