11 Reapers have been shot down by the Iranians since the start of the war.

You can't defend it, contain it and bypass it.
For what we have spent we could build or enhance alternate ports that do not rely on the Straits that are defensible. Trying to sink 1000 speed boats is not happening, heen a problem for decades. bottle em up and let them rot. Invest in Oman and UAE for energy distribution.

or, we take it. Like the UK and Gibraltor. You guys ready for that?

https://ti-insight.com/briefs/alternatives-to-the-strait-of-hormuz-mean-gulf-not-completely-cut-off/

Iran has been blackmailing the West involving the Straits for over 30 years.

The only answer now that we are committed……is regime change.

Bomb their electric grid, oil facilities and carpet bomb their ground troops.

Is what it is.

Hope Trump has the resolve to be the most unpopular president since LBJ.

Yeah, you are right. Once he opened the can, got to finish it. Really the only way to salvage his popularity is to finish and secure the Straits.

Suspect Trump realizes he will never be popular.

Probably knew that from Day One.

In Trumps mind he is saving the US by addressing a series of flaws from his predecessors.

Republicans and Democrats

And alternating such long established paths was never going to be initially popular.

Watch for Trump to begin bombing Iranian oil fields and electric grid.

If that doesn't end the war……carpet bombing .

  • Iran reportedly approves Indian government sending two liquefied petroleum tankers through Hormuz
  • Japan-based USS Tripoli and its attached Marines headed toward Middle East
  • WSJ says Pentagon sends Marine expeditionary unit to Middle East. Oil jumps higher
  • Pentagon has just confirms two additional deaths in Thursday's downing of a KC-135 refueling tanker aircraft over Western Iraq: all six US crewmembers are deceased.
  • Trump and the Pentagon claim the US and Israel are "totally destroying" Iran as the war enters day 14, with Trump warning Tehran to "watch what happens" and "I am killing them" and "what a great honor it is to"
  • Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly alive but wounded, "damaged," and "disfigured"
  • France and Italy open talks with Iran in hope of securing safe Hormuz Strait passage, FT reporting
  • Hegseth briefing: US and Israel have hit more than 15,000 enemy targets since conflict began
  • Several senior Iranian officials have been openly marching through the streets of Tehran today even amid smoke from US-Israeli bombing lingers in background.
  • CENTCOM: four of six crew members aboard a US refueling aircraft that crashed in Iraq have died. Active search and rescue operation underway
  • Strategic risks remain high as Iran reportedly begins laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, though oil eased slightly after India said one tanker successfully exited the strait.
Unfortunately it is 6, not 4 as earlier reported by Centcom. So 14 KIA?

Ground war incoming.

I don't think Trump is in charge of this anymore.

Hope Trump is not in charge.

Maybe he follows Bush's example and allows the JCS to do what they are trained to do.

It's not 10,000ft at its narrowest point…

10,000ft would not be even 2 nautical miles

[The Strait of Hormuz's narrowest point is approximately 21 nautical miles (about 24 miles or 39 kilometers) wide. Situated between Iran to the north and Oman's Musandam Peninsula to the south]

I think it was posted here, but read a rumor that we are considering physically retrieving the nuclear material.

Probably the only way the war can be salvaged, and "won," though if the new supreme dickface follows through and tries to avenge the fallen, we will be at war with Iran off and on for some time.

I think it will come at a price though. Going into a bunker like that is nearly suicidal. You almost think a low yield nuke is better. But the political fallout would be beyond compare.

The *shipping channel* that tankers and other freighters transit is indeed 10,000 feet wide...while small craft can make full use of it, large freighters cannot.

A fully loaded supertanker drafts 80 feet.

It really depends on whether the government of Iran goes from the enemy it has been to a more friendly government. From the time the first bombs fell, that has been the question, and it is not yet answered.

I think his point still stands

Iran has no navy anymore.

And whatever ships they could get would be sent to the bottom long before they could mine the shipping channel

Iran can not block the straight with mines

Red, you are a very smart guy and I have had a tremendous amount of respect for you... if you can explain to me why fighting Israel's wars and creating Greater Israel is actually a good thing for Americans I will take it under serious consideration.... the loyalty Americans have shown towards Israel seems to only go one way....

Think they mean strikes by Iran.

Iraq would love to see Iran lose influence in the region.

The Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s was forgotten by many in the West, but not by those who lost a generation of men.

More insults from a man who seems incapable of a post without smearing someone.

And yeah, FLBear and Sam and others are quite willing to be happy as long as they can smear Trump.

I just observe, up to them to stop hating America just because Trump is President.
