Cash on hand as of Aug. 31, per latest FEC filings:

DNC: $16.9M ($17.6M debt)
RNC: $125.6M
DSCC: $37.6M
NRSC: $18.7M
DCCC: $75.9M
NRCC: $89.1M
Quick refresher on how we got here. @GregAbbott_TX accepted $20 million from data center special interests, handed them some of the largest tax giveaways in the nation, then months before his toughest re-elect ever, he flip-flopped and ordered an audit of a situation he created. https://t.co/woyIPiyXhk pic.twitter.com/ypym4nHxfy

No True Scotsman ..... would vote for ....
What is the definition of Christian or conservative that would vote Talarico?
I would submit you'd have to change THOSE definitions to find someone who would support this bull *****
or Paxton?
We all fall short, kind of depends on who is drawing the line. I would never vote for Talarico, and as I define things there are no conservatives in the Senate.
Expanding on the Scotsman fallacy, "Well then that's no true Scotsman!" ..... I wouldn't, you wouldn't, but to say someone is not a Christian because of how they vote is a tad harsh.
More to the point, the Talarico team is trying to get Republicans not to vote in the Senate race, as it gives them a net gain if that happens. The argument about the perceived morality of one candidate or the other is nothing more in practical terms than trying to leverage an election.
The adults in the room should focus on the kinds of bills Talarico or Paxton would support if they took office. Neither is going to force someone to accept their religious beliefs, no politician frankly is much of a moral example we should follow.
But we know from history what to expect from a Republican-controlled Senate, and what to expect from a Democrat-controlled Senate. While I have grievances against a lot of Republican Senators, no rational or moral person would put Democrats in charge, or allow that to happen through not voting.

It's a few major factors.
1) When people actually listen to Talarico, he isn't anything like the radical extremist that y'all portray him to be, and frankly the focus on anti-trans stuff seems a little hokey and out of touch with everything else going on in people lives.
2) The GOP has created the perception that they institutionally reward corruption, because they do. In a functional party, Paxton's impeachment should have ended his career, not propelled him upward, but here we are.
3) We are currently suffering under the worst POTUS in at least the last 100yrs, and arguably ever, who's policy actions have made people's quality of life measureably worse.
Strap yourself in, because conditions probably aren't going to improve between now and November, they will continue to deteriorate. I just saw $3.99 gas and $5.99 diesel on my commute home in the Austin area, and I doubt it stops going up from there any time soon.

Again with yet another screed on trans issues, I swear I hear more about trans people from Republican mouths than literally any other source. Keep your focus on that stuff while the world burns and watch what the voting public does, you might be surprised. In the same way that "orange man bad" is not enough to win on its own, neither is "the LGBTQ agenda" as a tent-pole message.
The real reason Paxton is trailing in the polls is that people are just over all that crap, and the GOP has no answer on any economic issues right now (largely because of the aforementioned worst POTUS ever that we currently have in the White House). It's why the polling is mirrored across almost every battle ground, instead of being unique to Paxton (but he is uniquely bad).
And I'd be careful with that "we" talk when you speak on hard working Americans' experience with the current economy. You and I are both white collar professionals who are relatively insulated from what's happening, but blue collar America is getting more broke and pissed by the day.

Well for the first time in more than a decade polls show voters prefer Dems over GOP on the economy, and the gap is even wider for inflation, same for health care too. The President's policies have made the economy both objectively and subjectively worse, and Republican led congress has repeatedly signaled that they aren't going to do anything to restrain it at all.
What even is the GOP economic pitch to voters right now, more trade wars and corporate tax breaks to go along with another expensive mid-east quagmire? Paxton's big economic platform unveil was just some tax deductions (not even credits!), and he can't even really talk about the biggest issue on voters minds (inflation) too much because it would implicitly criticize the President's policies.

"I'm asking what specifically we're measuring when we say the economy is objectively worse."
That's actually not what your original question was, the objective measures language comes from my response and is a different ask. You were originally asking for details about why the GOP don't have a response on economic issues right now. I generally answered that (tariffs, Iran, Paxton's lackluster economic platform, etc).
For objective measures: inflation is higher now than it was when he took over (and getting worse), employment rate is holding but job creation is way below the Biden era (and not just the initial COVID boom either), federal deficit is more than it was when he took over, GDP is lackluster (far below what was explicitly promised by this admin). Really only the stock indexes are doing somewhat well, but observers are all watching with trepidation because everything is so precarious.
You say you aren't defending anyone, the classic "just asking questions" line. Ok, what's the point you're trying to arrive at then?

You're playing a little fast and loose with what these "objective measures" actually establish.
Take inflation. While the current year-over-year inflation rate is higher than it was in January 2025, that's a remarkably convenient starting point because it ignores what happened to the price level during the preceding four years.
Inflation averaged about 4.9% during the Biden years, compared with about 1.9% during Trump's first term, and consumer prices rose cumulatively by roughly 21% over the Biden years. Current inflation is 3.4%. So, yes, it has ticked back up. But pointing to 3.4% today as proof of how much worse things have become while ignoring the enormous inflationary run-up that preceded it is a fairly selective use of the data, but no surprise coming from you. I would not expect an intellectually honest discussion with you.
