Damn good question. Have been asking myself that since the primary election was over. The past five years Paxton overall has been much closer to prison than a senate seat.
Here's the thing. Cornyn only ever cared about himself, and he finally got careless enough to let voters find out.
Democrats have been able to get Cornyn to campaign for Talarico. If he ever WAS aligned with Trump, Cornyn definitely is not now.
Bottom line, is we're not going to get a great Senator for Texas this election, but putting Talarico in would do a lot more damage than putting Paxton in that seat.
The Democrats hope to keep folks angry enough to not think this through.
