"our government (directly elected officials and otherwise) is full of people making 250k/year who are now multi multi multi millionaires."
People who say stuff like that seem to not understand finances or compounding investment gains. I understand that there are some very egregious examples and that's what your comment is really about (e.g. just one government employee by themslves made over $2b last year, the Pelosi's portfolio always beats the market indexes, etc), but really any average person with that salary over a decade or so should easily be a multi-millionaire.
My dad is 66, he finally crossed the $100k salary threshold in 2024, and just by saving and investing in his retirement accounts he is a now a multi millionaire. For someone like a Joe Biden, who was a Senator then VP then POTUS over a career spanning decades, his reported net worth of around $10m is pretty modest. The point is, becoming a millionaire with with a 6-figure salary and some time to invest it is the expected and desired outcome, not something nefarious.
