Actually, the Founding Fathers did nothing of the kind. The words separation of "church and state" appear nowhere in the constitution. The phrase began when Pres Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to a group of Baptist ministers in Danberry, Connecticut. His use of the phrase is almost the opposite of the way it is used today.

The Founding Fathers did not want religious faith or issues excluded from public discussion. They wanted to make sure that no governmental entity hindered people's religious liberty or tried to impose a particular church on society. The modern doctrine tries to limit people's freedom, the opposite of what the Bill of Rights does.

I find it curious that the Leftists like to parrot that phrase without knowing its history or meaning and applying it only to Christians, not atheists or Muslims.

The people I know who voted for Paxton did do because they liked his record as AG and were opposed to Cornyn who has become a RINO against the interests of Texans. Trump's endorsement was not as important, although it probably helped. Despite all his flaws, of which there are many, Trump is still far better than any president we have had since Reagan.
