Trump didn't blame America for Russian election meddling, nor did he throw anyone under the bus. He said the bad relationship between the two countries was a result of foolishness on both sides. He answered the question about American intelligence in the only diplomatic way he could.
Quote:

So let me just say we have two thoughts. We have groups that are wondering why the FBI never took the server. Why haven't they taken the server? Why was the FBI told to leave the office of the Democratic National Committee? I've been wondering that. I've been asking that for months and months and tweeting it out and calling it out on social media. Where is the server? I want to know, where is the server, and what is the server saying? With that being said, all I can do is ask the question, my people came to me, [director of national intelligence] Dan Coats came to me, and some others, they said, they think it's Russia. I have President Putin. He just said it's not Russia. I will say this. I don't see any reason why it would be, but I really do want to see the server, but I haveI have confidence in both parties. I really believe that this will probably go on for a while, but I don't think it can go on without finding out what happened to the server. What happened to the servers of the Pakistani gentleman that worked on the DNC. Where are those servers? They're missing. Where are they? What happened to Hillary Clinton's e-mails? 33,000 e-mails gone, just gone. I think in Russia they wouldn't be gone so easily. I think it's a disgrace we can't get Hillary Clinton's 33,000 e-mails. So I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today. And what he did, is an incredible offer. He offered to have the people working on the case come and work with their investigators, with respect to the 12 people. I think that's an incredible offer. Okay? Thank you.
That is diplomatic?
Ha, I was waiting for a comment like that. I mean it was diplomatic for Trump. My point is that you wouldn't normally expect a president to stand there and say what he really believes. His people say one thing, Putin says another, and I think that was the right answer under the circumstances.
It's an even trickier situation. Do you expect Trump to criticize his patron? Not good form, or wise business. Trump's not (that) stupid!
Yeah, and Obama was only interested in negotiating with Iran because he was secretly a Muslim. I mean what other reason could there possibly have been? It's not like we can just go around talking to people!

Spot on they were

They didn't all say that, that's just the narrative the Bush Admin was pushing. In fact, one prominent dissenter spoke up too loudly with his doubts, so Dick Cheney outed his undercover CIA-agent wife, Valerie Plame.
On July 14, 2003, Robert Novak, journalist for The Washington Post, using information obtained from Richard Armitage at the United States Department of State, effectively ended Valerie Plame's career with the CIA (from which she later resigned in December 2005) by revealing in his column her identity as a CIA operative.

Hurd went further:

"I've seen Russian intelligence manipulate many people over my professional career and I never would have thought that the US President would become one of the ones getting played by old KGB hands," Hurd said. "To all our allies: there are still many of us in Congress that know Russia is not just an adversary to the United States but to freedom loving people everywhere."

Stupid comment by Trump. Easily the biggest gaff of his presidency.

Completely agree. Plus, Putin / Russia did not interfere in the election, per Trump. Source: Vladimir Putin! LOL

Senator MCCain found the strength to call Trump's performance "disgraceful"

"The damage inflicted by President Trump's naivet, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake, "President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world."

Whilst sitting next to Putin. What an idiot. You can't make this stuff up. He is ill prepared to be President.
What exactly did he say?
He said and I quote "some of my people, Dan Coats and others have told me Russia might have something to do with it". "However President Putin was very forceful and telling me Russia had nothing to do with" All I can do is ask the question". Firstly Mr. Coats who heads up the NSA told him Russia DID do it. So, Trumps lied about that. Secondly, he basically said....well Vlad told me he didn't do it, so I won't doubt him. That is what was said. I encourage you to watch the entire presser. Fairly unbelievable. Not 1 Republican has come out and defended is actions and words today. Now, that is telling.

Do you think it would be good for our President to call the leader of Russia a crook, a liar and a murderer to his face in front of the world to see or even in private? Do you really think that would be beneficial?

In private, maybe. It was never going to happen during the press conference. The reporters who asked the question knew it, the politicians and pundits who cry treason all know it, and everybody here knows it too.

Why not just skip right to declaring war and letting those ICBMs fly! I doubt that would be attacked any more venomously by his haters than what he actually said today.......

". . . what mattered was that Trump's answers were indistinguishable from Putin's, starting with the fundamental claim that Putin's assurances about interference in U.S. democracy ("He was incredibly strong and confident in his denial") deserved belief over those of his own Department of Justice ("I think the probe is a disaster for our country")." You expect Trump to point the finger when Mueller and Rosenrat can't even run a proper investigation?

And you expect him to trust them when they are raiding his lawyers office and going after everyone on his campaign for **** from a decade ago?

You have to be out of your mind to think he will agree with the media and democrats.

This is important. When asked if he had Kompromat on Trump, Putin did not say no. He demurred:

Lemire asked Putin whether he has compromising information on the U.S. president (such as the salacious allegations outlined in the infamous dossier), Putin didn't deny the claim, simply replying: "I did hear these rumors. When President Trump visited Moscow back then, I didn't even know he was in Moscow . . . Nobody informed me that he was in Moscow . . . Please disregard these issues."

No, I think it is a bad idea to meet with him period. I give Trumps credit for trying , but he is just not capable. Moreover, go out on the world's stage and basically say Putin is right and America is wrong. Disgusting.

Actually, I cannot fathom any President we have ever had during my lifetime, Nixon, Carter, Ford, Bush, Willie, Bush, Barry doing what the Trumps did today. This is not in anyway partisan. This is about our country and our values. HRC or Romney would not have done what he did today, either. Not sure, I know anyone who would. He flunked, bad.

No, I think we all know that's not the case. LOL... Putin said in front of the world that he preferred Trump. It was either b/c he thought HRC was tougher or he knew he had Trump in his back pocket and would actively undermine the United States. Trump's Oval Office confession to weakening sanctions to toadying up to Putin... Yep, that's your boy. Putin chose wisely!
