Interesting Apple's CEO (Tim Cook) was on today saying the virus is trending down the last several days in China and some of their factories have reopened so he sees that as a positive trend. What he doesn't say is how honest is the Chinese govt being about this? No one really knows.

The market selloff could create some great buying opportunities but if the supply chain is stopped for a month or two how much of a hit will some of these Intl companies take in profits and then does the virus come back next winter?

Can't time the market and I still don't trust what the Dems might pull before November but watching them get excited about this because it could hurt Trump is sad. They would take people dying and losing their jobs any day if it meant gaining back power.

Trump admin sent US workers to greet returning coronavirus victims without protective gear. an HHS employee, or whistelblower, told her bosses about it, and was reassigned and her job threatened.

and you are taking issue with the whistleblower part?

From Breitbart..

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Wednesday decried President Donald Trump's appointment of Vice President Mike Pence to lead the administration's effort to combat the potential spread of deadly Chinese coronavirus in the United States, claiming he is unqualified for the role.

"Mike Pence literally does not believe in science. It is utterly irresponsible to put him in charge of US coronavirus response as the world sits on the cusp of a pandemic," the New York Democrat wrote on social media. "This decision could cost people their lives. Pence's past decisions already have."

Trump missed a real opportunity here. Should have appointed AOC, Tlaib, and Omar as virus task force chairs and sent them to Wuhan with instructions to lick every doorknob in town until they find the source of the infection.

Absolutely not!!! If true, heads should roll. The Director of the CDC should be fired and replaced with someone who is competent. Trump needs to clean house.

riflebear: "What he doesn't say is how honest is the Chinese govt being about this? No one really knows."

Actually, while it is just smart to be skeptical of any government which still has a Politburo and official state news, in this case China appears to trying hard to rebuild credibility. The economic impact of the outbreak is doing more harm to China than any other country, and even if a vaccine and treatment are quickly developed, the infrastructure damage to China will last years.

I listened to an interview yesterday with Dr. Richard Harris, an Infectious Disease specialist at Houston's Methodist Hospital. Dr. Harris explained that the danger from COVID-19 is its contagion, but its mortality rate is falling as more information comes in, especially outside China. Dr. Harris believes that COVID-19 is about as deadly as the normal flu, but it is more contagious. He bases this off information received on patients treated outside China.

https://www.iheart.com/podcast/139-the-michael-berry-show-27764850/episode/22720-pm-lets-talk-to-58371209/?campid=ls_ihrshow&pname=&cid=%2Ffeatured%2Fmichael-berry%2Fcontent%2F2020-01-08-the-michael-berry-show-the-bumps-1820%2F

The bad news is that people need to be more careful about protection measures like quarantining known patients, but the good news is that the virus, according to Dr. Harris, is behaving in a predictable way and early indications from vaccine research are promising.

I know non-binary thinking is difficult, but you don't have to be a Democrat to oppose certain Trump policies.

But here the point is non-partisan (have someone explain the concept to you).

No. This is a binary decision.

1: Don't side with lunatics who blame Trump for a virus originating in China
0: Side with lunatics who blame Trump for a virus originating in China

You are a zero here. There's really no middle option. You either choose to eat a feces sandwich because you hate Trump or not eat a feces sandwich because you are sane. You very clearly BernieBro'd up and made your choice.

Some events and conditions are outside the President's control, such as an unexpected virus outbreak. Other events are very much in the President's control, such as inspiring consumer confidence through clear and positive statements, or damaging consumer confidence through pessimistic or garbled position statements.

This is pretty basic and well understood in history. At least for most of us.

Nope. Been traveling almost nonstop the past three weeks. None work-related, all for pleasure. I'm actually sitting on the tarmac right now texting this out.

BUT, if you were to start a thread analyzing the situation and then proclaiming everything is going to be okay and there won't be any issues here in the states, everyone on this board better mask up since every prediction you make tends to go 100% the opposite.

Own it. You give Trump praise when the wind comes out of the south, give him credit when it blows the other way.

Thread criticizing the self evidently crazed people, driven to insane ramblings over their irrational hatred for Trump, and you side with the crazed ramblers. This doesn't support your claim that you aren't a Democrat.
I know non-binary thinking is difficult, but you don't have to be a Democrat to oppose certain Trump policies.

But here the point is non-partisan (have someone explain the concept to you).

MAGAboys trumpet the stock ticker on good days. I'm just saying if His Worshipfulness controls the market then he controls it when it goes down.

Or you could tell me I was right the dozen or so times I said the president has very little effect on the markets.
Or maybe the markets are affected by the president's policies and also by natural forces beyond his control.
Yes, all the good is Trump, all the bad is Dems controlling the weather.
You seem determined to play the bitter malcontent card.

Some events and conditions are outside the President's control, such as an unexpected virus outbreak.

Woa woa woa. Outbreak!? You spent over a dozen posts promising us this thing was contained???
You have no idea what the words used in this discussion mean.

Go back to sleep, the adults are working on the problem.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
