No one really knows."Actually, while it is just smart to be skeptical of any government which still has a Politburo and official state news, in this case China appears to trying hard to rebuild credibility. The economic impact of the outbreak is doing more harm to China than any other country, and even if a vaccine and treatment are quickly developed, the infrastructure damage to China will last years.
I listened to an interview yesterday with Dr. Richard Harris, an Infectious Disease specialist at Houston's Methodist Hospital. Dr. Harris explained that the danger from COVID-19 is its contagion, but its mortality rate is falling as more information comes in, especially outside China. Dr. Harris believes that COVID-19 is about as deadly as the normal flu, but it is more contagious. He bases this off information received on patients treated outside China.
