Shameful.

Do these stupid folks not realize when you are forced to shelter in place the $$$$ have to come from somewhere.

This is what you gets when folks that don't live in the real world have the vote.

Several things here.

First, very odd that there is all this complaining about lack of bi-partisanship when McConnell intentionally excluded the Democrats from the drafting process.

Second, very odd that the complaint is the Democrats are holding up getting money to the people when the Democrats's complaint about the bull is that the money is not going to the people, it's going to companies.

Third, this will get done in the next day.

They helped write the bill, they got everything they wanted and when it came time to pass the bill, they voted against it...believing they could get more radical left wing goodies by holding the American people hostage.

You are covering for them. Stop it.

Nothing about Democrats behavior here is rational. It's dangerous. They're playing with peoples lives for cheap political scores. Period.

It's too late tomorrow: the markets will tank right off the bat.

When even Mitt Romney slams the Dems for their vote...

Nothing in the Senate has shocked me, until today. Standing in the way of a critically needed rescue package is irresponsible and reckless. Dems say not enough money to states: nearly $200 billion isn't chump change. Hospitals get at least $75 billion. As for funds for companies, it's to keep entities that employ millions of Americans from foldingit's to save jobs. Keep this up a little longer and we will go from social distancing to social destruction.

Dems know full well what their stunt will do to the market tomorrow.

Dems also know that 80% of the media will find a way to blame.....Trump.

Ruthlessly cynical power politics.

Yeah I mean they know for a fact that when the market opens up tomorrow it will collapse.

They still refused the bill.

They should have signed it and then pushed for more after the fact. But they want Trump to look bad.

The markets have tanked every day since the first Monday of March. It tanks even after Trump talks about what he is going to do for the economy. It was going to tank tomorrow anyway. The House and Senate bills are both just first aid treatment it was going to fix the economy like a paramedic is going to fix someone who had a stroke. This economy is replaying something more like 1929 than 08. It will likely take massive stimulus to kick start it back.

Mmmm..hmm. From the right wing, Trump loving news rag, CNN

Asian markets and US stock futures fell on Monday as a massive stimulus package to help Americans handle the coronavirus pandemic hit a major stumbling block.

Dow (INDU) futures fell more than 900 points, hitting a 5% decline that triggered a maximum allowable limit, or "limit down." That halted futures from falling further.

And NY Times and many other outlets got it wrong too?

The failure to move forward shook financial markets and threatened an ambitious timeline set by the Trump administration and leading Republicans to move the rescue package through the Senate on Monday and enact it within days.

If the Republican Senate moved forward with bipartisan House bill passed while the Senate took a vacation last weekend, there would be a bill on Trump's desk tonight or frankly last Sunday night had the Senate not taken off for a few days.

It is a lie that that bill puts industry before workers. It includes help for both.

Democrats ARE NOT THE MAJORITY. They behave this way in the house...I don't see your ass complaining.

The emergency economic aid proposal would include direct payments to Americans under a certain income threshold, $200 billion in loans to airlines and distressed industry sectors (for Americans Jobs )and $300 billion in forgivable bridge loans for small businesses.

All these are directed at maintaining jobs.

They literally just destroyed thousands of lives and jobs. Over petty bull*****

So many sheeple in this thread.

I do think that if we're going to bail out industries we've given tax break after tax break to, there need to be stipulations, not just endless loans every time the economy crashes. The airlines in particular have been gifted so much money by the feds, and what did they do? Spent it all on stock buybacks. If they're going to be given loans, they need to be in some way held responsible for preparing for version 2 of this, because this will happen again.

I doubt any of us have read the bill, but if emergency workers are truly being neglected in this bill, Dems were right to block it.
