WACO, Texas — The No. 1 Baylor Men’s Basketball team absolutely demolished the Northwestern State Demons on Tuesday night 104-68.

James Akinjo led the Bears' attack with a career-high 27 points on 9-20 shooting, including 3-8 from three. He registered 9 assists as well.

Adam Flagler added an extremely efficient 21 points on 8-13 and 5-10 shooting splits. He also dished 11 assists, a career-high for him

Meanwhile, Jeremy Sochan made the first start of his collegiate career in the place of Matthew Mayer who is in COVID protocol.

Sochan racked up solid 16 points and 11 boards for his first career double-double.

Baylor shot out of the gate to a 13-0 lead and cruised from there.

The Demons drew the closest at 19-12 early in the first half, but from there the Bears shot the lights out and built their 28-point halftime lead.

By halftime, Baylor was shooting 53% from the field and 44% from three.

The second half was much of the same, with the Bears reaching the 100-point threshold with 5:00 minutes left in the game.

It was an offensive outburst that should remind future opponents that they don’t just have to worry about the suffocating defense.

Also of note, Sochan cut his hair. It’s very short, and Baylor fans don’t have to worry about him being like Samson with his effort tonight.

Cryer was also unavailable tonight recovering from a foot injury.

Overall it was an impressive showing from the Bears with five-star signee Keynote George in attendance tonight, but things get tougher from here.

Big 12 play starts Saturday with a top 10 showdown in Ames, Iowa against the Iowa State Cyclones at 1 PM central.  It will be televised on ESPN U.
