SicEm365 can confirm a report by Gary Parrish that Baylor head basketball coach Scott Drew will hire John Jakus to an assistant position on his staff.

Jakus is a familiar name to the Baylor men's basketball staff. The former Gonzaga assistant spent two seasons in Waco as a graduate assistant from 2012-2014 and made a strong impression in a short period of time in regards to his knowledge of the game and emphasis on player development.

In 2015, Mark Few offered Jakus an opportunity to come on the Gonzaga staff as the director of basketball operations. Jakus was an instrumental part of the staff that helped the Zags make the national title game in 2017.

Jakus has spent time overseas coaching professionally in Bulgaria, Spain, and New Zealand. He also has been active with Athletes in Action where he most recently coached King McClure and Ish Wainright on an international trip.

Prior to coming to Baylor, Jakus was the head coach at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy where he won 81 percent of his games.

SicEm365 Details: The word on Jakus is that he is strong on player development and has strong recruiting connections internationally and at the JUCO level.  This should be a great complement to current Baylor coaches Jerome Tang and Alvin Brooks III who have great networks at the high school and AAU levels. Jakus had a strong role in implementing a lot of the offensive sets that Baylor and Gonzaga use.  Jakus will be a great fit to the Christian mission of Baylor. He and his wife Sara have three children.
