For over a decade, nothing seemed less important than making money for tech companies. As long as they grew or money remained easy, the good times could keep rolling. 

Now both problems have hit companies — and tech companies especially — hard. 

Casper was valued at $1.1 billion in 2019. The mattress company that advertises a ton on podcasts went private for $300 million late last year. 

Netflix lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022.
