So was it officially announced and I just missed it? Pretty obvious Grimes is redshirting if he's not getting into this game and he's not on the injury list.
Officially announced. This morning, I think.

I don't think we really need him. This guard group is really good. And we've got three guys who can share the point guard duties in George, Flagler and Bonner.

If we can get him redshirted and let our staff work its player development magic, he'll be ready to rock and roll next year with more playing time available.

Makes sense with all the firepower we have at guard. Glad he was open to it. Drew's always been successful at it. I always heard Bonner would have redshirted last year if not for the injuries.

This is the best weve ever looked in the first game of the season in the 16 seasons Ive watched.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt that way.

Offensively I'd agree. Who will be our Mitchell on defense against the contenders?

Still - National Champs is my prediction!! (Injuries killed my prediction last year - I still say I was spot on if not for those.)

Very impressive. This team has an embarrassment of riches. I was most impressed with the overall ball movement and the passing.

Wondered about Grimes when saw the box score. Makes sense to redshirt with ALL the guards we have.

Sounds like a great first game! Excited for 22-23!!

This team is absolutely loaded. Wow.

Flagler's handle looked a lot smoother. Probably combination of skill work and healthy ankle/knee. Very good sign.

Drew was spot on about Love. Is understandably hesitant to explode off the leg and also the actual first college ball game played. Will be good in a few months. Would make 5 very good guards which is difficult for any college level team to handle.

I thought he made pretty significant progress toward the end of last year. I think a lot of it was just getting more comfortable in that role and accepting that it's ok to be a scoring point guard rather than trying to force passes for distribution's sake. But clearly, it's helped to have an entire offseason to work on those aspects of his game.

I agree.. still very high on him. Think a lot of preseason projections are missing him completely. When he gets comfortable this guard group will be out of control

People get way too worked up over the bells and whistles of internet broadcasts. 15 years ago, you'd have either been listening to John Morris or using a game tracker if you wanted to keep up with a game like yesterday's. And 10 years ago, you'd have been paying for a terrible school-produced video feed.

We, as fans, now get basically every Baylor sporting event broadcast and available at an affordable monthly rate, and we're mad that our game against one of the worst teams in DI isn't network quality.

Unless it's like the Texas State football broadcast last year, where the cameras couldn't follow the action, I'm not complaining too much. It wasn't long ago that we had to listen to half of our football games on the radio because they weren't picked up by TV. Give me decent video and I can live with the odd graphics glitch or substandard commentating.

As of right now, we don't need him. But he is a very nice insurance policy in case of injury. With Love and Cryer coming off seriuos injury it's a blessing having a talented player like Grimes waiting in the wings if needed. Last year we lost Love, Cryer, Every Day John, Flagler for a stretch, and we had both Flagler and Akinjo playing injured for several games. The injury situation and lack of depth capped our ceiling last year and eventually caught up with us in the tournament. Our staff made sure that won't happen again. Grimes is big 12 quality and could step into a starter's role if needed. He has the character and unselfishness to be willing to redshirt even though he would be good enough to start anywhere else. He is not a guy who needs to develop a ton to contribute immediately.

That's just it, the tracker DOESNT WORK on espn minus games. I can't and won't use espn minus, and it makes the way to follow it which you dismiss as inferior unuseable. Game trackers are superior to most espn minus broadcasts, ironically unless the game is being broadcast by espn minus, in which case the tracker is every bit as **** as the broadcast itself, because the same people who are terrible at their jobs that put on the garbage production are clearly also the same people in charge of running the tracker.

It isn't remotely true to suggest that game trackers are superior to any video feed. And with a few notable exceptions, ESPN+ broadcasts are fine for the most part.

Nothing, please and thank you. Easiest decision of my life. Espn minus is worse than nothing. I'd sooner have my dick stepped on than pay espn money for a "service" that they quite frankly ought to be paying ME for partaking of

Nice job of attacking the hyperbole and completely ignoring the entire point that when espn minus is in charge of the game, they turn a usable method of following a game into a complete cluster****
