Nunn's Season-High 27 Points Lead No. 12 Bears Past No. 25 Sooners, 79-62
WACO, Texas — Jayden Nunn’s season-high 27 propelled the No. 12 Baylor Men’s Basketball team (18-6, 7-4) to a 79-62 victory over the No. 25 Oklahoma Sooners (18-7, 6-6).
Nunn’s record night in a Baylor jersey was highlighted by a 6-for-9 performance from downtown before Austin Sacks put an exclamation point on the end with a step-back triple of his own.
Baylor broke the first half open with a 16-3 run to build a 36-23 lead. The run included three Nunn threes and a Bridges triple.
The visiting Sooners would get no closer than 12 points in the second half, and the Bears’ lead would get as high as 21.
As much as the hot shooting did for the Bears, their zone defense was key as well.
Baylor forced Oklahoma into 12 turnovers — including 9 live ball steals — and held the Sooners to just 33% from deep.
After the game, Scott Drew highlighted how not just forcing 12 turnovers, but only committing five of their own was a great improvement over the 21 turnovers at Kansas on Saturday.
Bridges, Yves Missi, RayJ Dennis and Ja’Kobe Walter joined Nunn in double-figure scoring with 14, 12, 11, and 10 points of their own respectively.
Confidence looks to be building in this team as they head on a crucial road trip to West Virginia and BYU back to back on Saturday and next Tuesday.
Two wins would keep the Bears in close pursuit of the top of the Big 12 standings.
Tip-off in Morgantown on Saturday is set for 5 PM CST and the game will be televised on ESPN 2.
