Nunn, Bears Boat-Race New Orleans Privateers 91-60
WACO, Texas — The No. 17 Baylor Bears (5-2) boat-raced the visiting New Orleans Privateers 91-60 in a pre-Thanksgiving matinee Wednesday.
Jayden Nunn dropped a season-high 23 points to lead the Bears and he tied a career-high in three-point makes shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arch.
Norchad Omier added another double-double — his fifth of the year — with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Langston Love had a nice extended outing for the first time this year with a season-high 27 minutes to go with his seven points and four rebounds.
Baylor jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with a pair of Nunn threes in the first 70 seconds and they did not look back. The Bears shot 9-for-17 from deep in the first half while assisting on 12 of the 18 made buckets in the period.
Runs of 12-2 midway through the half and 16-1 at the end of the half gave the Bears a commanding 50-23 halftime lead.
With the game well in hand, VJ Edgecombe did not play in the second half due to reported hamstring tightness finishing with 11 minutes of game time.
Jeremy Roach and Robert Wright used the second half to join Nunn and Omier in double figures with 17 and 18 points respectively. Roach also tallied eight assists narrowly missing out on his second career double-double.
In the second half, the lead never dipped below 22 points while the Bears kept firing away from deep albeit with less efficiency. Baylor ended 15-for-37 from three.
Now, after the Thanksgiving break, the Bears will travel to Storrs, Connecticut to face the back-to-back defending champion Huskies on Wednesday, December 4th. That game is slated to tip-off at 5:30 PM CT and will be broadcast on FS1.
