Meanwhile, look at what McCasland has going on in Lubbock. TTech is looking more and more like a possible FF team.

McCasland is competent and has a real competitive fire. He's what Drew once was.

I'm done for the season. We are basically a mid major team competing in a P5 conference.

We're 14-9 at home in Big 12 play since Foster opened. Dixon has owned Drew in Waco for 4 consecutive seasons.

This wasn't all caused by Rob Wright. And it wasn't injuries. But I'm sure that will be the narrative. This was a poorly constructed team (Drew and his GM) and is a poorly coached team, which is on Drew, Tweety, Melvin, Sanchez and Henson. It's one thing to not have athleticism, but these guys look and play like no one ever works on even fundamental skills of dribbling and playing defense. Grant McCasland and his staff run circles around our's.

When I heard Drew's interview with Matt Mosley the other day it was the first time it sunk into me that Drew now views his success through how many consecutive years we have an NBA draft pick than where we finish in the conference. And as long as that is the measurement of success, then this is basically what we'll be.

these players are awful. outside of carr and yessafou (sometimes) this is like the bottom of the barrel talent-wise. hopefully this is a bad GM who picked these players out and sold CSD and not CSD's talent evaluation. this product is just horrendous.

Man, I just do not see a single aspect of basketball that we are any good at. It really is remarkable.

Go Lady Bears, or whatever they're called these days.

This is bad, Im starting to think Drew might be coasting into the sunset. Even with injuries I can't believe this is what he's put together.

I wish he had done his sunsetting at Kentucky.

It would have given us a chance to hire a new coach before our program was back in the ****ter.

Still can't decide if Rhodes hiring a coach or this would be worse

It would have been real easy at that time. Just call Grant McCasland and make him say no.

But that ship has long since sailed. Now he's got Cody Campbell signing his checks.

Maybe Kim was coaching both teams.

McCasland is a better basketball coach than Scott Drew in the NIL era is because he's elite at the fundamental side of the game. He was when he was at Midland College, he was when he was at Midwestern, he was when he was at Arkansas State and he was when he was at North Texas.

Drew has never been a tactician. His strength is -- or at least was -- attracting talent, building elite culture and developing players over time.

In the NIL era, Drew's skillset is largely obsolete. And he doesn't seem to have the ability to build a good roster and demand what needs to be demanded for success.

We have had a good run for a long time, and this year stinks. Some of us appear to be fair weather fans only, which speaks for itself, especially for those criticizing our coach. Below are the tip of the iceberg concerning the honors he has earned.

Drew joined Gene Keady (Purdue) and Jay Wright (Villanova) as the only high-major coaches to win three-straight conference coach of the year honors from 2020-22. In 2024 he was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches with the Award for Leadership.

Baylor Women's Basketball is the proper reference I'm told. Versus Lady Bears. When did that pivot happen?

Yessefou is the king of scoring a flurry of meaningless points late in a loss to make a bad game look better than it was.

He's done it like five times this season.

We've been on a downward trend for 3 years and about to hit the bottom of the barrel with a .500 record with an overpaid Coach / Staff and a lot of NIL resources tied up in really bad players...

Favored by 4 and about to lose at home and TCU's best player sitting on the bench...

It's been four years. The 2021-22 team was an elite team done in by injuries and a hot UNC team in the tournament.

Every team since has been flawed in construction and awful on the defensive end.

We can't do that with a seven-man rotation.

And it's not like our press is particularly good. It's just extending the game.

"Yessefou has engineered this comeback."

We've cut a 14-point deficit to nine. I'd hardly call that a comeback.

Thanks for your input, Homer. But your son is stealing money from Baylor University with the product he's putting on the floor this season. And he has yet to articulate any plan for how he intends to get us off this treadmill we're on.

Nah. it's the school inability to spend those resources accurately....while adding a lot of non-value add administrative roles to the payroll.

Trim the fat in the back office and spend those $$ on multi year deals...

I know Drew is busy right now with the current season, but I would appreciate hearing the plan at some point soon. The problem is... I am not sure he has one. Our admin doesn't fully understand the concept they are slowly eroding fan support/base due to these lousy seasons in basketball and football (baseball too). Fans are fickle and want to see winning or least competitive, hustling, passionate teams.

Many of yall are letting your (very valid) frustrations with the football program to cloud your judgement on the men's basketball program. This year's team is absolutely a bad team. No doubt about that.

However the metrics for the last few seasons, yes even last year's team, all show the same solid but not spectacular program we were in the few years leading up to the national championship run.

The program is still well funded and attracts high level talent. If we have another bad year next year, sure that'll be something incredibly worrying.

But our football and men's basketball programs are not in the same league of precariousness. We don't need to equate the two.

The basketball program is absolutely headed in the same direction as the FB program. There's some seriously glaring issues with CSDs program currently. Can he fit it? Sure, if he changes his philosophy that clearly isn't working

Baylor's inability to adjust to NIL has destroyed Baylor sports.

Other programs with no more resources than we have seem to be doing just fine.

We're just behind the times and unable to adapt.

Our football program is frankly a more hopeful situation because we're one more bad season from having a new coach and something to look forward to.

Our basketball team is just slowly descending into irrelevancy with a coach we all love but who seems completely lost in the NIL transfer portal era.

It's not about adaptation. It's about money. Scott drew was on the paying players band wagon day one. Football was about being slow to adjust but basketball shows we don't have enough money. If we had 3.5 million to keep rob wright this season doesn't happen. We didn't have it and it happened. It's really that simple.

Money isn't the issue with men's basketball. We've had enough to money to consistently bring in some of the best freshmen in the country and have consistently attracted sought-after transfers.

Our issue is that we can't evaluate talent or build a damn roster. A there's no accountability in our program to set or maintain any sort of championship standard. Since winning the title in 2021, Scott Drew has been chasing shiny things instead of trying to find and develop the types of gritty overachievers that made our program what it was.

We've been devolving into a soft, entitled program since, and we finally hit a rock bottom that's been a long-time coming. I, personally, have been ringing these alarm bells for years. Everyone who argued with me for years has slowly come around to realize that I was right all this time.
