Team Notes

- There continues to be good competition for reps at the quarterback position. Both Gerry Bohanon and Jacob Zeno have gotten an even split of opportunities early. Currently the players are separated pretty evenly by parts of the field for some of practice. Charlie Brewer and Jacob Zeno are on one side, Gerry Bohanon and Garrett McGuire on the other side. This allows for a ton of snaps for both. Again both are getting a great shot to show what they can do in front of the new coaching staff.

- On that same note, the quarterbacks have really loved the opportunity to work with Larry Fedora. Seems like the change has been a very positive for this position group.

- At tight end, I continue to hear great things about Shawn Bell coaching this group. He has done a great job building a relationship with these guys over the years while coaching the offensive line so this change has been easy. I have heard nothing but positives about what Bell has done with the group. This is still a young group but there are tons of capable bodies to throw out there now and it seems like there will be chances given to all of these guys to see who will rise to the top.

- A wide receiver and new addition to the roster for the 2020 season to keep an eye on. Seth Jones has made a great early impression and has opened a lot of eyes. A few good days in practice will do that for you but he is a guy who has been mentioned a couple times as a player who has had a nice start to OTA’s. I even heard from one source that he will be pushing the guys above him and may even take some playing time. I still think he redshirts but it is interesting to hear that he has made good strides early. Also they aren’t in pads and that can change everything.

- JACK LB and Arkansas State grad transfer William Bradley-King continues to be a name to watch. He has already turned into a bit of leader, which is a great sign. He has made some major early impressions as a newcomer to the roster but that is not really surprising give then kind of season he had last year.

Recruiting Notes

- D’Iberville (MS) High School cornerback Justin Walley‍ released his top four of Baylor, Minnesota, Ole Miss and Mississippi State yesterday. He continues to talk to Omar Hales mostly but right now it seems like Baylor is still wanting to be patient. I do not expect there to be much movement on this one at least for the time being, as Baylor waits on some other high priority targets to make their decisions.

- New competition has entered the fold for a priority 2021 offensive lineman. Dallas Jesuit’s Ryan Lengyel‍ was offered by Texas today, which I do believe makes this a little more cloudy. Baylor has held the edge in his recruitment ever since offering so they have been able to build a good relationship with him. But this will add some competition for the three-star offensive lineman. Time for the 6-foot-5, 275-pounder to finally get a rankings bump.

- Baylor is off to a good start in the 2022 class, as the staff has built a really nice relationship with some of the top names in the class. A few who I think Baylor has built really good early relationships with are: ATH Jarred Kerr‍ , QB Cade Klubnik‍ , RB JD Price‍ , WR Evan Stewart‍ , WR Anthony Black‍ , TE Donovan Green‍, TE Trent McGaughey‍ , OL Neto Umeozulu‍ , OL Cory Hendrix‍ , DE Vincent Paige‍, LB Trevell Johnson‍, LB Jordan Crook‍ , LB Bralon Jones‍ , LB Harold Perkins‍ , LB Justin Medlock‍, LB Ty Kana‍ , CB Bobby Taylor‍ , and CB Julian Humphrey‍.
