After ending a five-game losing streak with a win over Kansas State, Baylor football hits the road to face the defending Big 12 Champions and current Big 12 favorite the Oklahoma Sooners.

The 32-31 victory over the Wildcats last Saturday gave Baylor their first one-score victory of the season after dropping contests to West Virginia, Iowa State and Texas Tech by a combined 14 points with none coming by more than seven points.

Meanwhile, the Sooners are red hot after dropping back-to-back conference games to begin Big 12 play. They have won five in a row including their last four by an average of 33 points. The streak is highlighted by a 41-13 beatdown of rival Oklahoma State.

The one kink in the armor for the Sooners, however, could be the lack of practice time after dealing with COVID-19 issues where a large portion of the team missed time and forced a matchup with West Virginia to be postponed. OU is expected to be without a number players including start linebacker Nik Bonitto who leads the team with 6.5 sacks.

After dealing with a large breakout earlier in the season, Baylor should be in the clear in terms of a large number of players missing the game due to isolation or positive tests. The Bears, however, have seen plenty of injury attrition this season including the loss of defensive star and starting linebacker Terrel Bernard to a shoulder injury.

Baylor vs. Oklahoma Prediction

Written by Sam Bradshaw (S11)

Oklahoma is probably the best team in the conference if everyone played a best of seven against everyone.   They have the best offense and a solid defense with plenty of athleticism.   Under normal circumstances they should beat a Baylor team that has a new staff, a wildly changing lineup, and some key injuries like Terrell Bernard, Gabe Hall, and others.

However ,OU is dealing with an unpredictable COVID & contact tracing situation of their own so their usual players and execution may be missing.   Baylor has a chance with the right bounces this weekend as a weaker team in KSU beat OU in a similar way.   However, I am predicting based on a full lineup and I think OU would normally win handily.

Baylor 21, Oklahoma 40

Brewer is our best QB

I really don't have anything personally about the guy, but that's really bad recruiting then. And how would you know? Have we seen any sample size of note from Zeno or Bohannon from this year? I certainly don't trust the coaches to know. Time and time and time again we see players who, when the lights come on, are a different player. These coaches aren't even giving these other guys a chance to show ANYTHING while the guy ahead of them keeps putting up subpar results. If they get a few series and fail, then they fail, but at least they would have more information, more video to go off of in making evaluations then they do now. Oh, I forgot. For some reason this OC doesn't watch video. Personally, if I knew that about him, I wouldn't have hired him in the first place. That was a HUGE red flag when he said that.

Sorry let me re-do... (in sarcasm tone) oh yah Charlie is our best QB.

Bottom line, this coaching staff has done an AWFUL job with this team. There is so much more talent than is being realized. Mack Rhodes needs to have some answers come this fall.

No running backs, no offensive line, and no receivers getting open...how is that all on Charlie?

If Brewer is the best qb then we are officially basement dwellers. Also, this o-line is one of the worst I've ever seen.

I don't understand the 5 wide sets. We have NO PRAYER of CB having enough time in that scenario

These lineman are clueless. It's one thing to get physically beat, but when you get physically beat AND fail to understand how to execute your assignment it leads to what we now have. How many times am I going to see a lineman let a defender go by to try to pick someone else up on the 2nd level only to see that initial defender make the play in the backfield. No common sense.

It's Charlie too. We just need to throw the whole offense away. Everyone is trash.

With a decent running game, an O-Line with a pulse, I have to think Charlie would be a better QB than this.

It isn't all on Charlie, but a lot is. Dialing into the receiver you want to throw to before the ball is snapped, eye ****ing him down the field so everyone knows, and then tossing a hurried ball his direction is on Brewer.

Totally agree. Not against this defense

Seriously, will anyone challenge Mack on this staff? The answer is no. We are stuck with Fedora unless some BMD's start withholding donations.

Every QB is better with time in the pocket. Brewers problems were the same last year when the line was better. This isn't just a line problem.

Agree if you assign equal blame to a non-existent O-Line

That's like saying water is wet. Of course he would. He's still very limited even with all of that. He stares down his receivers, doesn't trust his arm, and I can count on my hand how many times I've seen him look off a defender in his career. He's handicapped and already bad Offense

Which is why you give Bohanon and Zeno a shot...unfortunately that is not gonna happen this year.

No it wasn't, but it was marginally better than this year. We have very few offensive weapons. We need someone who can make reads, throw the ball, or run. That ain't Brewer anymore.
