After ending a five-game losing streak with a win over Kansas State, Baylor football hits the road to face the defending Big 12 Champions and current Big 12 favorite the Oklahoma Sooners.

The 32-31 victory over the Wildcats last Saturday gave Baylor their first one-score victory of the season after dropping contests to West Virginia, Iowa State and Texas Tech by a combined 14 points with none coming by more than seven points.

Meanwhile, the Sooners are red hot after dropping back-to-back conference games to begin Big 12 play. They have won five in a row including their last four by an average of 33 points. The streak is highlighted by a 41-13 beatdown of rival Oklahoma State.

The one kink in the armor for the Sooners, however, could be the lack of practice time after dealing with COVID-19 issues where a large portion of the team missed time and forced a matchup with West Virginia to be postponed. OU is expected to be without a number players including start linebacker Nik Bonitto who leads the team with 6.5 sacks.

After dealing with a large breakout earlier in the season, Baylor should be in the clear in terms of a large number of players missing the game due to isolation or positive tests. The Bears, however, have seen plenty of injury attrition this season including the loss of defensive star and starting linebacker Terrel Bernard to a shoulder injury.

Baylor vs. Oklahoma Prediction

Written by Sam Bradshaw (S11)

Oklahoma is probably the best team in the conference if everyone played a best of seven against everyone.   They have the best offense and a solid defense with plenty of athleticism.   Under normal circumstances they should beat a Baylor team that has a new staff, a wildly changing lineup, and some key injuries like Terrell Bernard, Gabe Hall, and others.

However ,OU is dealing with an unpredictable COVID & contact tracing situation of their own so their usual players and execution may be missing.   Baylor has a chance with the right bounces this weekend as a weaker team in KSU beat OU in a similar way.   However, I am predicting based on a full lineup and I think OU would normally win handily.

Baylor 21, Oklahoma 40

I would get mad at the holding not being called but I don't even care anymore. It's not like the offense is gonna do anything anyways.

With a decent running game, an O-Line with a pulse, I have to think Charlie would be a better QB than this.

Every QB is better with time in the pocket. Brewers problems were the same last year when the line was better. This isn't just a line problem.

Not just a line problem, but the O-line was not good last year either

No it wasn't, but it was marginally better than this year. We have very few offensive weapons. We need someone who can make reads, throw the ball, or run. That ain't Brewer anymore.

And how would you rate our RB's performance this year?

Imagine if CAB had this defense. We'd be basking in glory right now.

If we play like this against OSU there could be a chance. Of course it will require a few more points than tonight.

Well, on the positive side: we got away with playing UT, OU, WVU and Iowa State on the road in front of stadiums not even half full because of COVID, so next year we get them all in Waco during what I hope are normal conditions once again.

The OLine was at least borderline average last year. Granted, our strength was a great defense last season, but still, you don't win 11 with a bad OLine. This year it's hard to come up with adjectives to describe how bad the OLine has been - and it isn't because we lost a bunch of guys.

Under normal conditions next year are we even going to have 15k in McClane to watch this trash offense and a 37 year old Charlie Brewer under center

Well see y'all in 2021 I guess. No way I can sit and watch us get curbstomped by a bad Ok St team next game. It's just sad. We shouldn't feel this bad about the offense. Like C'mon we're a power 5 team. There's no excuse for the play calling and execution to be this bad.

No running backs, no offensive line, and no receivers getting open...how is that all on Charlie?

It's not, but the things that are on him are poor accuracy, too weak of an arm to make the passes in tight windows, not quick enough anymore to successfully extend plays or pick up yards consistently enough, and, to some extent, too many batted balls because of a slow release and short stature.

Nope. And either he or Bohannon won't be here next season if not both of them.

Been watching on a delay....just for got caught up. Same trash on offense like every week.

But so proud of our defense....this might be their best game of the year considering the competition and zero help from our offense.
DanaDane

We're gonna put up some garbage yardage here because OU's playing prevent D, and people are gonna rush in here and talk about how the Offense really isn't a problem.....just look at the total yards they generated.
