It ain't the end of the world but does anyone think this team goes anywhere in the tournament. Tough to watch.
I can see us going one and done now. Before I figured the seed disparity would be enough to get to Round 2 or even Sweet 16 with the right draw, but now ...

K-State player just said in post game they thought they were a "tougher" team than Baylor.

Hard to dispute. Interesting. I thought the Bears were mighty tough early on in the season -- but has this team literally lost its toughness as the season has moved along.
KState player was eight with these refs, but they will lose first round in the ncaas

Drew has made us respectable. IMO he can stay as long as he likes. I don't think, however, there are any Final Fours in our future. Not a big deal to me but I know some of you are much bugger bball fans.

Offense was putrid. Hope we figure it out before next weekend.
KSU was desperate and it showed, they wanted it more.

We are vulnerable in games like this because we don't have top talent
They just look worn out to me. We didn't have top talent all season long and whooped some a$$ for about 3/4ths of it.

Looks to me like the gas tank for these fellas is empty.

I am shocked to see people on here overreacting to a loss. /s

KSU is a good team and that was a tough environment. we got a crappy whistle for most of the game and missed too many bunnies. this game very likely won't affect our seeding.

Kansas, Louisville, Virginia, Butler, and Oklahoma St have all lost in the quarterfinals so far, and the SEC and Pac 12 (the weakest of the big 6 tho) are just getting there. it happens, even to really good teams.

I think we end up the dreaded "4 seed".

Then lose in the 2nd round...

Rinse and repeat in 2018.

The first 2 months of the season were a blast though.

I actually still think we'll make the Sweet 16, no further though. Drew has got to trust some of his other players like King, Chuck and TJ. If they don't get it done so be it but at least they give us a chance to score. For some reason we are bogging with Manu and Al in there together.
Can't explain why Al played so much, but King was a ghost while he was in today. Not sure he warranted much more from the limited production he had.

Manu simply was terrible until midway through the 2nd half. Feel like we had to keep him in to try to get the rust off. I thought he looked physicall fine until he came out that last time where he was limping or at least walking a little funny. I assume that is why he wasn't playing the last couple minutes. We've got to have him playing at a high level in the real tournament or we can turn the lights out early.

Can't name one player tonight that had a good game. Hate that I had to give my big 12 tournament tickets up, but it would suck to be there after tonight.

what is it with Motley and Jo KState? Our bigs seem to have their worst games against KState and the only reason why we won at KState was our 3 point shooting. Our defense was non existent in the second half

I hope he stays for his entire career. I'd rather be a mediocre tournament team than go another decade plus without seeing the NCAAs, but I'm concerned that his coaching skills have improved while his recruiting has weakened. Not a single stud guard in this team. That bothers me big time. It will seem more apparent if we don't land the big PG.

What in the world do you base your "4 seed" on? That flies in the face of every metric from every bracketoligist and those who pretend to be bracketoligists?

Can't argue too much about King. I would love to see Drew put in Mitchell when the offense goes into one of those patented droughts (of which we had at least 3 extended ones tonight). Feel like he injects energy and stuff starts loosening up more having a driving threat out there.

Need deeper guard play than what we have to get there. One good guard with a flat tire at the moment won't cut it. Will be interesting to see what Vital and Jolly bring ...

Need a wing player who can shoot. With all due respect to Ish, he can't hit the ocean with an oar.

Need more beef down low too. We have decent bigs and I like the length, but they get shoved around a lot.

Ball security needs a lot of work on this team. Been better as of late, but it put us out of the conference title running much earlier than it should have.

Free throws need a special emphasis as well. Not just making them, but getting the team in a position to be in the bonus more earlier in games and more often.

Leadership. With Ish leaving and two rising seniors having been suspended by Drew already this season, were gonna have a void in that area unless Manu and Lindsay step up. King could too if he becomes more consistent with his on court production.

Weight room for Big Joe and Omot (kinda repeating the third point).

We're going to be a 2 or a 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. That is quite a bit more than respectable.

We don't have much of a playmaker on the team that at the end of games demands the ball. Motley has the tools to be that guy but I don't think he has that drive that sets those players apart. Duval would be that kind of player and would do wonders for this team next year.

I think why most people are extremely frustrated at tonight is it had all the hallmarks of those late-00s Drew teams where we wait until it's too late to do things like speed up the tempo by pressing and trapping. Should've tried different lineups (Chuck?) and more picking up at 3/4 long before there was :90 left.

Also, I love the idea of Jake and Manu playing together making Manu the 2. Unfortunately, Manu never got the memo and was still the one dribbling aimlessly for 25 seconds.

I wish Chuck had gotten more playing time this year. Very excited about his future. Thought he played well enough in Al absence to get a little more PT, but alas Drew didn't see it the same way. Wonder if KSU's physicality played into that?

I feel pretty safe we will end up a 2. UCLA/Zona/FSU/Duke are the threats to pass us, but the Pac 12 is weak overall and only 1 of them can win, and FSU and Duke have to win 2 more games, and only 1 of them can win.... also, I would think we will be ahead of fellow 2 seed Louisville, as we have similar bodies of work, but own the H2H win over them.

teams like WVU, Purdue, Florida have almost 0 chance to pass us. there is a chance we slip to a 3 depending on how it shakes out, but I like our chances at a 2

I hope you're right but I see us as a soft 3 right now. Last 10 we're 4-6 and, even with injuries/suspensions, we just haven't looked the part since Norman. Thankfully, our non-con body of work is just so strong and looking even better with X and Sparty coming on.

If we hang onto a two seed, we can get to the round of 32 and with a good draw -- even the Sweet 16.

A 3 seed ... really depends on the draw at that point.

I'd just like to see ALL of our players step up the way they did early in the year and recently against Texas.

Not the crap we got subjected to this evening ...

Someone needs to show Jo some tape of Clint Capela. Clint knows his role of rebounding and rim protector mixed in with an occasional dunk or put back and that's it. Hopefully they still get to play in Tulsa!

Response to negative guard play. The problem with our guards is they can not create their shots, which creates problems for us when it gets late in the shot clock. Lindsey has a hard time beating people off the dribble. When Manu beats his defender off the dribble, his size allows defenders to stay attached. Freeman shows it sometimes, but extends arms and gets called for offensive fouls. We need to get into offense earlier, so we don't get late in the clock and put our guards in a position to have to create their own shot. Not our strength. They are rub screen shooters or catch and shoot guys. Thus, why we have droughts in the games. We need push ball into front court and get into offensive sets quicker to succeed in NCAA tourney!

We also need some locker room heroics by someone... anyone.

I truly get the sense that a lot our bad play is because of behind-the-scenes antics as the chemistry is in the ****ter and has been since Al's suspension. Hopefully this week off and the watch party will start to mend whatever it is that's broken.

Manu is the spark for the team. When he is out/injured, the team completely loses their mojo, including Motley.

last 10 or 12 are not considered anymore

we have the #1 non-con RPI (EDIT: double checked and we somehow slipped to #2, the horror)

some committee members will realize and factor in we were without Freeman and Manu at times, too.

we certainly aren't a soft 3. soft 2, yes.

I said I didn't THINK Drew will be able to take a Baylor team to the Final Four. It is stated clearly as my opinion and it's based on Drew's recruiting, and the performance of teams he has put on the floor. I'm not bashing Drew just pointing out I believe there is a ceiling to his capabilities - a ceiling which I think we might have reached. This is not an opinion based on the game tonight but is based on the recruits he has signed, their ultimate performance on the court, and on the consistency of team play. Again, I am fine with Coach Drew's success and hope he is a Baylor lifer.

You obviously disagree with my opinion. I am curious if your opinion is based upon anything other than hope and prayer.

So, please stop castigating folks for stating their opinion. It's boring, egocentric and vaguely narcissistic. Your opinion holds no more validity than anyone else.

I agree with the gist, but we aren't the #1 league. I don't care what Kenpom says. And you are definitely right about "losing our share " as we seem to clearly have regressed to a .500 team

I find that disappointing. I think others do to

But hey, in November we beat Louisville and Mich St. That was fun

And ftr, those kenpom ratings aren't the end all, they've got UCLA at 17, below us. Dook too.
