Anthony Brown is working as the Cowboys' first-team slot corner at OTAs.
Brown got burnt to a crisp as a perimeter cornerback last year -- he allowed the most touchdown passes in the league -- but he fared well when subbing for oft-injured slot CB Orlando Scandrick. With Scandrick gone to Washington, Brown should be locked in as Dallas' slot corner. At early OTAs, the Cowboys are utilizing Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones as their starting boundary cover men.

Just spit balling here. If Twill gets a suspension, the Cowboys can cut him and get relief from his money and his $3.5 cap hit. Does that free up the money and cap space needed to go get Earl Thomas?

Contradicting his public statement, Terrance Williams told police that Kendall Wright, whom Williams played with at Baylor, was the driver for his weekend car accident, and that Williams was not in the car.
Williams' initial comments to police basically contradicted everything he ended up saying in his public statement on Sunday. Whatever happened, Wright does not currently appear to be in any sort of trouble with the law. Williams is facing charges of public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident. Dak Prescott said Tavon Austin will be used all over the formation with the Cowboys.
"Coaches have a great plan, whether it's getting him out of the backfield, lining him up at X, lining him up at Z, putting him in the slot," Prescott said. "He's a guy we get the ball in his hands, he'll score some points and get a bunch of yards in this offense." Earlier this month, EVP Stephen Jones said Austin is a "web back" who they want to get "a dozen to two dozen" touches per game. Consider us skeptical, but the Cowboys are shoveling as much coal into the hype train as possible.

The Cowboys plan to extend contract-year RG Zack Martin before the start of the season.
Martin is skipping OTAs over his contract. He's pushing for a deal that will pay $13 million-plus annually. A first round pick in 2014, Martin has made the Pro Bowl the last four seasons and should become the highest paid guard in the league.

Dak Prescott said he doesn't think the Cowboys need a No. 1 receiver.
"I don't know if any team in the league necessarily needs a No. 1 receiver," said Prescott. "It's about getting the ball out, spreading the ball around, keeping the defense on its toes." The 2016 Rookie of the Year never quite clicked with Dez Bryant, which could have been a factor in the team cutting him this offseason. Now Prescott is left with a paper-thin receiving corps featuring free agent signing Allen Hurns, Terrance Williams, slot receiver Cole Beasley and third-round rookie Michael Gallup. Dak is going as a mid-range QB2 in early mock drafts.

The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota thinks third-round WR Michael Gallup will record "around 450 yards and 4 touchdowns" this season.
Machota could see Gallup ending up as the Cowboys' No. 1 option, but even then he does not project a monster season for the rookie. "Whoever [is the leading receiver], I don't think it'll be 1,000 yards and 10 TDs," Machota writes. "I think we're looking more at something like 800 yards and 6-8 TDs." Gallup might not be a WR1 as a rookie, but he could be a useful fantasy option in a wide-open receiver corps. His role will be important to monitor in camp and the preseason.

DT DeQuinton Osborne and OG Jashon Robertson were waived to clear room. Jackson was a 2016 sixth-round pick by Dallas and had a decent preseason as a rookie but ended up getting cut and landing with the Browns.
