One of the fun parts about doing these mocks is that you get to find out more about these second and third tier . players. Starting to be more curious about Wilson and Anderson, thats for sure

Free Agency = Can we afford Earl Thomas? Had the broken leg in October, his second since he came into the league, the first in 2016. Expect it to run in the $13 mil range on a 3 or 4 year deal. Not sure about guarantees given the fact he didnt play half of last year.

Definate upgrade on any NFL team.

Would it be better to throw the money at a DT like Grady Jarrett? We havent had a decent inside pass rusher in a while. Sign him, draft Demarcus Christmas and your interior DL just took a solid upgrade

The Green Bay Press Gazette views free agent Cole Beasley as a possible target for the Packers.
Beasley isn't expected to be re-signed by Dallas after calling out the front office after the season. He could be a slot replacement for Randall Cobb, who's also a free agent. Beasley is a potential upgrade on Cobb, but he'd be a low upside signing.

There has been smoke there from what I have seen. Beas isn't worth a bidding war and heck we could put Amari in the slot if need be if we really liked a big receiver.

We do need to be smarter with our roster spots though

For example, instead of having a dedicated FB, an H-back/TE who can inline block
Why do we have an extra guy basically doing just long snapping?
etc.

I would rather have Jalen Hurd on the roster than Olawue. I think he will develop into a nice HBack. Too small for TE but about right for HB

Free agent WR/KR Lucky Whitehead was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in December.
Pulled over in Virginia, Whitehead was also cited for driving without a license and failure to use a seat belt. Whitehead missed 2017 with a broken foot before spending 2018 on the street. Going on 27, this is not going to help Whitehead's comeback odds.

Still not sure what our biggest need is. Not like last year when it was WR and LB. We filled those two slots.

We badly need a playmaking safety to get some splash plays from our secondary. Its amazing how many games we have won without being able to force turnovers.

Cowboy timeline: 1959. Clint Murchison signs Don Meredith to a personal service contract to lock him up for the proposed Dallas Rangers NFL team. Murchison doesnt have the votes against the powerful Redskins franchise that have the South locked up. He finds out "Hail to the Redskins" is not owned, purchases it and trades it to the Skins for their vote. By the time the franchise is awarded, they decide to go with Dallas Cowboys rather then the Rangers
- April 1960: Cowboys set up headquarters at 4425 N. Central Expressway, where they leased the second floor of an office building from the ground-floor tenant Dallas Automobile Club. The building also housed the Cowboys' box office, where inaugural season-ticket prices were $27.60 for six games.
- 1960-62 seasons: Cowboys primarily practice at Burnett Field, home of minor league baseball's Dallas-Fort Worth Rangers; some practices are held at DISD-owned Cobb Stadium.
- 1960-1971; Cowboys use Cotton Bowl for NFL games
- 1961: Cowboys add a box office at 1509 Elm St., and fans also can purchase tickets at Reynolds-Penland and Jas. K. Wilson stores.
- 1962: Cowboys owner Clint Murchison Jr. buys property at Yale Boulevard and North Central Expressway, which not coincidentally was where the AFL's Dallas Texans had a practice field and field house. The Texans are forced to move to a new field a few blocks away for the 1962 season.
- September 1963: With the AFL's Dallas Texans relocating to Kansas City, Cowboys take over Texans' practice site/field house at Yale Boulevard and Central Expressway.
- June 22, 1964: Cowboys move to a temporary headquarters, 5738 N. Central Expressway (between Mockingbird and Yale), with plans to move again in 1966 to a nearby office tower being constructed by Murchison. The temporary office is about 200 yards from the team's practice field.
- Dec. 19, 1966: Thirteen days before hosting the Packers in the NFL Championship Game, Cowboys move into new offices at 6116 N. Central Expressway, taking over the 11th floor of a 15-story, $7 million Expressway Tower built primarily for Murchison's marine construction company, Tecon. The office overlooks the team's practice field.
- June 1967: Cowboys lease 3.5 acres near Forest Lane and Abrams Road and begin construction of a training facility and practice fields, which they move to in October.
- Oct. 24, 1971: After playing their first two home games in 1971 at the Cotton Bowl, the Cowboys opened Texas Stadium in Irving
- Nov. 29, 1983: GM Tex Schramm and coach Tom Landry co-man a shovel -- with the franchise's star logo on it -- during the groundbreaking for a 30-acre office and training facility in Valley Ranch.
- Aug. 28, 1985: Players and coaches move to the new Valley Ranch facility. Front office personnel move in several weeks later, marking the first time since 1967 that the team's practice facility and office complex are in the same area.
- May 27, 2009: Cowboys Stadium (now AT&T Stadium) was completed
- Aug. 21, 2009: First game in Cowboys Stadium (later AT&T Stadium) was the preseason game against the Titans where punter AJ Trapasso deliberately kicked into the Jumbotron (30-10 DAL wins)
- Sep. 20, 2009 - First regular season game was when Eli Manning wrote a message on the visitors locker room wall that the NYG won the first-ever game at the new stadium (33-31 NYG wins).
- July 2013 - Cowboy Stadium becomes ATT Stadium
- July 2016 - Cowboys move into new practice facilities and headquarters in Frisco, aka The Star

ESPN's Todd Archer reports the Cowboys will not extend coach Jason Garrett's contract heading into the final year of his deal in 2019.
The Clapper is officially on the hottest seat of his long, strange Cowboys coaching career. Garrett has had nine lives, but owner Jerry Jones must finally be tiring of the routine. Garrett will be trying to save his job in 2019 with rookie assistants on offense in Kellen Moore and Jon Kitna. We would say we don't like Garrett's odds, but this would typically be when he pulls a 12-4 season out of his hat.

ex-Bear stuff:

Donlphins CB Xavien Howard admits to hearing trade rumors as he prepares to head into the final year of his rookie contract. Howard stated after the season ended that he wants to be the highest-paid corner in the league, besting Josh Norman's $15 million per year. We haven't seen any concrete rumors reported by the media, but there's speculation whether Miami will want to pay Howard accordingly when the team is in full rebuild mode. Howard is a 26-year-old (in July) fast-rising star and would certainly fetch a nice haul for the Dolphins draft picks-wise. His only concern is a knee injury history.
