Congratulations on a win! I'll give credit where credit is due.

It was an ugly and very lucky win. DA's defense is horrible and quite leaky. He's suppose to be a defensive guru. Hard to understand his fetish against field goals and punting. SMU missed 3 field goals says it all.

I didn't hear Trigg's name called today but was only able to watch half the game. Did he play?

He should be. He's a competitor.

Sic 'em Bears. We should probably send the announcer who jinxed the SMU kicker a thank you. Talked about how well he'd playedan odd comment given that he was 1 for 3 at the time.

Perfect reason to go beat their ass.

Very satisfying to see all those smug SMU bros in the stands handed the L

Can the people on here who just blast and blast and blast give credit to a team that goes in the road and beats #17 with an absolute lucky SMU first play of game

I blast all the time. And in my opinion deservedly so when the defense is that porous. That said, the comeback was excellent and the 2nd half coaching job stellar.

agree. it's like kids...criticize them like hell when they do things that don't make sense and then praise them like hell when they do something great.

I made a comment that our defense has no dawgs. Very happy for the win, but still feel that way. Luckily our offense is full of dawgs.

They are much harder to find in college. He can be a difference maker in some games this year.

I mentioned that due to our D, we would beat nobody notable this year. Well happily I am wrong. In my estimation anyone in the Top 25 is notable.

We broke that string of not beating ranked teams too!!

Yep I guess that sorta goes hand in hand with the notable thing. Reminds me of tennis when Vitas Gerulaitis had lost to Jimmy Connors 15 straight times and beats him on the 16th try. He said, "Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 16 times in a row."

Those two were a hoot. Not a big tennis fan but we hosted the WCT Finals party at Papagayo for two years. Vitas was hilarious.

Sawyer has a total of 859 yards, 7 TDs, and no interceptions between SMU and Auburn…

Best QB in the country statistically

I remember when we signed him, they went on and on about how good he is. Proved that he can do it under pressure today

440 yards for Sawyer after an off game against Auburn with only 415...

There were probably 5-6 drops too

What calls were terrible…you should be at practice or on the field to know football calls

Running into stacked boxes when you've shown no ability to move the line or passing on third-and-inches and forcing yourself into fourth-down situations at midfield are objectively questionable calls.

I think Spavital is a great OC on the whole. But he does some head-scratching stuff occasionally.

glad he got a fair share of targets this game...we didn't target him enough against Auburn

That's how it's going to be with this receiving corps.

Some games, it's going to be Wilson or Trigg's time to shine (Auburn). Sometimes, it will be Prentice and Cameron's. And Hawkins will show up and get his numbers almost every game.

It really is a pick your poison situation.

I know our defense was bad but if Redding and Coleman don't make those key plays in the end zone we lose. Probably by a lot. Way to gut it out.

That Coleman coverage was perfect...maybe the play of the game

Sorry I don't think it's occasionally. This is a habit that stretches to last year.

Happily eating crow right now because I for sure gave it up down 2 TDs with just over six minutes to go. Guess we should probably get used to these types of games for most of the season, because just about any W we get against good competition is likely going to be a shoot out type win.

And that's against back to back P4 opponents...not many QBs he's competing against have faced that in both of their first games

In the first half, we would continually line up for a running play, then our TE or a stout WR would come off the line and block right into the hole where the RB would go. They figured it out against Auburn to stop it. SMU obviously scouted it and simply jammed the TE/WR back into the hole to plug it up

We kept doing it over and over and over

You can't argue with the overall results.

Our offense has been awesome since he took over.

We were top-20 in scoring offense last year and will likely be even better this season.

Yep and there have been multiple drops/misses thrown right in the middle of the chest. Could easily have been closer to 1000 yards

So glad it worked out for Hawkins to get one more year. He is so sneaky finding seams in the defense after the catch.

You can tell Sawyer has a ton of faith in him. He's Robertson's security blanket and our drive-extender.

Slow starts definitely seem to be a trend. Would be nice to figure that out. We are a good second half team...but first halves the last couple of years have been shaky.

We had a chance to jump on Auburn early...but didn't cash in.

Auburn was double teaming him. That's why Wilson and Trigg were wide open
