It's really kind of messed up that the best team in our conference after wining the conference championship can then go out and buy one of the best QBs from within that same conference.

The announcement was a truly terrible idea.

But I don't think it really made that much difference in the result.

The only way to get program momentum was for Baylor to name a new head coach that would bring talent and excitement with him. The North Texas guy probably would have been good for some of that. But it couldn't be done for obvious reasons with the Mack situation.

The top commits we lost were still going to be lost. Most of the portal guys are still probably in the portal, either way.

I doubt most of the teams in the Big 12 are really thrilled with the portal situation right now. We're stuck in the middle, not big enough to attract up and comers, nor to keep many of our better players from leaving for a better deal.

Wining a couple of games near the end of the season would have probably helped a bit.

They're going to roll unfortunately. The talent level is just too different from the rest of the league.. especially on the lines. If they have a competent to good qb too.. game over.

BU needs to scrap David quickly (should have been done last year), or at least have the replacement contacted and chosen early season. This is snowballing now.

One interesting outcome of NIL is that it is probably going to keep some of the really high-end talent from entering the NFL draft early.

No reason to be in a rush to get drafted when you can get bigger guaranteed money in college.

Honestly, might be for the best to start hurting the NFL's bottom line a little bit. If players can make more in college than they can as rookies, you will see some talent start to drop out of the league.

Hopefully, the NFL can assist with creating pressure for the NCAA to get a trust exemption which will allow the NCAA to start setting some restrictions on this madness. Or we keep moving on up in this open market.

Trying not to be a Debbie downer. But why would any QB worth a **** come to BU? Not to mention if they did get a decent one he's likely gone next year anyways when Dave gets fired. This is just an all around **** show. And frankly it could have been avoided

I'm beginning to realize that the only way we are landing one of these top quarterbacks in the portal is if we rob Peter to pay Paul by blowing our load all on the quarterback position. We don't have the money to do that. And to your point, our absolute best case scenario is that we overpay for a bunch of players that will win just enough games to give our leadership an excuse to bring Dave back for 2027 before all those guys graduate or enter the portal. We were always going to be in a rebuilding year this year. Honestly, I've really warmed up to the idea of hiring the Navy coach. Like, Navy has less talent than us on paper, and yet I know that they would win more than 5 games in the Big 12
