I believe it was only the thread on this site that claimed the commitment. That is what originated the social media frenzy. I do not believe Baylor has said a thing one way or another. I just looked at that OP "story" again. It is not sourced at all. No quote from Lagway or anyone close to him and no quote from anyone at Baylor. In fact no source is mentioned at all.

If he's committed to Baylor how f'kn difficult is it to get legal paperwork in front of him to sign right now if we can get the Southern Miss kid committed and signed the same day. Baylor has 50,000 lawyers (yes, I know, exaggeration). As much as this means to Aranda, the new AD and this program, one would think the paperwork would have been ready for him to sign the day he visited and certainly no later than a few hours after he "committed."

I've also heard that Time wounds all heels, but it doesn't always seem to work out that way.

The heels seem to win in today's world.

At this point, you use your 2 mil for other signatures.

For as long as I can remember players would give a "verbal commitment" and some of them would sign and some would flip to another school before signing day.

It seems that is where we are right now. BU has a verbal commit who is out there shopping for a better deal.

Some things never change. It is what it is.

According to the DMN this morning, Ole Miss is appealing to the NCAA and Chambless will be going to court to get his 6th year.

At least DJ hasn't verbally decommitted yet.

I'm glad he is going to court. The sooner we get a legal ruling that college eligibility is unlimited and that a person can play in college for 10 or 15 years the better.

That might speed up the process of the 30 biggest schools breaking odd and the remainder of the schools getting some sort of collective bargaining agreement and creating a more level playing field.

If you can't limit how much a player can earn then how can you limit the number of years a guy can earn a living playing football?

May need a little help with understanding. In reality this may be a moot point because the LONGER delay with signing probably means he's gone.

However, January 2-16 are entry dates for the portal, shop around for schools, COMMIT, but Sign whenever.
That being said, it states player needs to be aware of individual school DEADLINES, not a UNIVERSAL date.
So, when is Baylor's Signing Deadline Date? Lagway would need to follow that if he truly intends to sign with Baylor. It would be interesting to know that I think.

I'm not sure this is a good move for him. That offense is going to look a lot different without Weiss and Kiffin around. Furthermore, he is t going to put up big numbers on the SEC. Not like he would in the Big12.

An extra million might be hard to pass up but in the long run it may not be worth it.
