As sickened as I was by the 2015 Cotton Bowl, Baylor won 2 games my senior year. Art Briles did this at Baylor:

He didn't win that second trophy, unless they just handed out an old one from the closet. CU, A&M, Neb, and Mizzou. Which team last won that configuration?
Yep, ours looked like this.

Back on topic.....the Tcu Fancy Frogs suck, always have, always will. Also, Gary Patterson is a fat, sweaty, abusive psychopath who routinely throws his players under the bus after losses. He's also a win at all costs jerk - even sacrificing the long term health of his players.

Back on truth topic.................you would bust your knee caps if Patterson had taken Baylor to 10 11 win seasons and a Rose Bowl victory. You would be wringing his towel out and licking the sweat off of it like it was 15 year old Ben Nevis Single Malt.

Trophies? I assume these will be like the juice box trophy you covet.

Try these few on for size:

1. 10-6 bowl record since Patterson assumed the head coaching role

2. Now risen to the 28th best college football program all time

3. Now up to the 4th best private school program all time behind only Notre Dame, USC & Miami

4. 10, count them, 10 seperate 11 win seasons since Patterson took over which is 4th most in college football today

5. All of these trophies come in handy when recruiting

6. The fans get a trophy by getting to go to an upper tier bowl game instead of the Cactus or Russell Athletic

He'll get $3 and a book of free McDonalds' coupons. A little more than the USFL versus the NFL.
He's going to ask a jury to determine if he could have actually played in the NFL. If so, what are the damages? There's no guarantee he could have made the squad. Just because he was super fast didn't mean he was guaranteed a paycheck.

X, he did end up drafted by the Bills in round 6. It was discovered soon thereafter that the hip injury had actually developed into a double hernia. He could never recover from that even though he tried and ended up being cut.

At the very least if he had sat out the recommended time and healed properly, then he would have been fine playing for the Bills or any other team.

The other part here is the seeming pattern of players being told they would lose playing time if they didn't get on the field ASAP.

I believe everything he said. Gary Patterson is an a hole and great coach. The players know he is not their buddy. They made the choice.
I believe Patterson would tell the league that he was soft.
What is the average service time for a 6th round pick?
These damages are hard to prove. Didn't he have trouble with drops? NFL is not guaranteed.

This story never gained much traction with the national media and now is basically an afterthought. Someone was smart enough to tell Patterson to just keep quiet and it would go any deeper or further. There's lessons to be learned here.

You're right TU, your Fancy Frogs are a regular Alabama-like powerhouse. We should all tremble in fear at the mere thought of their awesomeness right? What a frickin' joke. Tcu is the team that once strung together 9 seasons with a 14-82 record, that's an impressive 1.5 wins per year (.145 win %). Extend it out to find 16 straight seasons with a 43-125 record, 2.7 wins per year, .25 win%. We're talking historical powerhouse here buddy. The mighty Tcu Fancy Frogs also once went 20 years between bowl games, 40 years between bowl wins - playing in just 7 bowls those 40 years. Legendary, my friend, absolutely legendary. Oh, you don't care about the past. The same past that included the years you played. OK. More recently you say. Tcu was able to build their program in powerhouse conferences like CUSA, the WAC, the JAC, and the SAC. All mediocre conferences with mediocre teams. Not really hard to stack wins on top of wins playing those patsies all the time. By comparison the Bears, as a terrible team, got thrown into the BIG12 to face Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, A&M, K-State, etc. Not exactly mediocre WAC/SAC teams. It's damn near impossible to win/ build a program when you are continually getting beatdown 48-0 at halftime. Two completely different paths taken. One easy (Tcu's). One hard (BU's).

TellMeYouLove, Surly you have forgotten! You said the Big 8 only had 2 teams worth a flip? My my how you forget.
1.Nebraska, back to back National Champs early in Big 12
2. Oklahoma many championships always in the elite conversations
3. Colorado. National championship and some very salty teams for the next decade or so
4. Missouri was tough as nails in those days
5. Kansas State. Bill Snyder was there and at the peak of his magic. He flirted with elite status off and on
6. Iowa State had some very tough teams
7. OSU Jimmy Johnson had them flying high. Before Miami. They were a force to be reckoned with and Les Miles did a great job there as well

One sorry team at that time Kansas, and they had some competitive years
Where did you come up with this Big 8 Slouch stuff. When the t
Big 12 came together it was the toughest conference in my opinion
That bunch of teams was a bunch of big tough slobber knockers when the new conference was formed

how often were Okla and Nebraska the top two teams in the conference? Answer: most of the time. The records don't lie. The 1980s were not banner years.

Everything else you're suggesting is anecdotal. A few of those teams had good seasons but the best Okla State team couldn't beat Baylor.

We agreed to take a mismatched representation of teams based on questionable state school politics.

We are now paying for it as they are dangling our money over our head.

Btw,

TCU fired one of its team physicians and that's a big reason for the lawsuit. This is NOT being driven solely by the players.

We split with Mizzou in the later days of the Big 12. Lost a close one there. Spanked them at home. Their QB probably had nightmares of footsteps all week. I made the long drive down with a Mizzou fan. An even longer drive back for him.

We had the more impressive win of the home and home. But record was 1-1. We also played Colorado in the 80s & 90s winning 2 of 4. Lost to Okie Lite in the 1983 Bluebonnet bowl but beat them in 1994. Beat Kansas and Iowa State. Lost to Nebraska and OU in that time period.
