The Elite of course. I'm thinking the 86-91 version. Particularly the late 80s. It had just been newly renovated and reopened around the tail end of 85 or beginning of 86 by Sammy Citrano who now has Georges. The Elite was great and always packed during this era.
The Elite I was referring to was late sixties, open 24 hours for late night studying over a hot turkey sandwich, open-faced. Greeted by Maitre 'd, Tommy Bakos who had a plastic hand and owned dozens of rent houses around Baylor. Waffle fried potatoes.
The Panchos of bbq. So bad, it's...well...bad.bularry said:Alf said:

I ate at the Mexican place. Not half bad. And, I believe it was actually in Temple. In the same parking lot as the Dodge dealer (back then it was Ira Young).notbubbleboy said:
Little River Cafe (I think the name was. A few miles out of town. Pretty spot and great catfish)
Trippy Mexican food place about halfway to Temple. It had this cave like acid trip interior that looked like it was made from painted asbestos.

You're thinking Wayne Shirley's in Little River. Wayne later was the name behind the big restaurant in Lorena. The Little River location shut down after the wrong people found out Wayne was getting cheese and other commodities intended for Temple ISD.notbubbleboy said:

I miss when Cathay House was good.
I watched Super Bowl XXXIX (2005 -- Pats/Eagles) at Baja Burrito, they were giving away free burritos that Sunday for people who showed up, was pretty good.Bear Doc said:
There was a burrito place on 5th I believe in the early 2000's when we were at Baylor and I think it was called Baja Burrito. Kind of a pre-chipotle/freebird's type place. It was only there a year or two but we really liked it.

The proper method is to get brown gravy on your mashed potatoes, and cream gravy on your CFS. Then you cut a bite of CFS and scoop some gravy smothered taters onto the bite of CFS. Heavenly
