Of course I agree with your post. However we had not just a winning program but a top 3 type program HOF status if you will. It is darn near impossible to match that level of success unless you hired someone with similar success and no one at that level was available

. 100% agree. I just thought it was funny how some other posters thought we could remove Kim and just keep on rolling as of our success wasn't bc of Kim.

In just her 2nd year re-establishing LSU's WBB program, Kim has LSU at #3 in the Nation with a 19-0 record. #1 and #2 also are 19-0. Boy, I'm sure glad that troublemaking drama is gone.

LSU...best team $$$ can buy !!!
And what is wrong with that these days? She's just playing the hand that is dealt.

That is hard to explain to your daughter who wants to play D1 sports.

I mean that's just how it goes.

Mack was in no hurry to pay a WBB coach big money when it can be used for our bigger sports.

I respect the business aspect of it, but dislike how he considered her the #1 option

And I don't disagree with you---you are most likely correct. Your point just emphasizes the diminution in the value of women's sports because of the higher interest in and higher financial profits from the men's sports. As you say, that is just how it goes.

Nevertheless, I still believe that If the men's basketball program and men's football programs had been mediocre, as opposed to a national champ MBB and a Sugar Bowl football year, at the time of the Mulkey drama, that more emphasis would have been placed on keeping KM at Baylor. Mulkey may have viewed the heightened attention on the men's programs as a dimming of the spotlight on her program, despite its superior success for two decades. This may have caused her sudden need for attention, which the Administration refused to give her. Ah, the life of a diva, and she is one....but with her resume....she deserves to be one.

I was told that the $$$ for CKM was paid by WBB boosters that wanted her here. If true, its possible that that the $ is no longer coming into the program. That those boosters wouldn't send it in to have it diverted to other programs.

Mack was in no hurry to pay a WBB coach big money - since it is more than his pay.

Mack Sure didn't want a women's basketball coach with more power and machoness than himself again.

So he went and got the opposite. Never ever push back like Kim did.

There was a reason!

I also believe that Mulkey has a name for herself so recruiting was going to be easier for her in that sense. LSU has played a weaker schedule than most, SEC women's basketball is not what it was the last few years. LSU also has their number 1 player fully healthy baylor unfortunately does not have 1 or 2. I think we are young and our freshman have been doing amazing things so far. If Jaden can step back up and next season we can get a foreal shooter to just be a knockdown automatic beyond the arch and a TRUE center. I think we will need a Grad Transfer or something next season in the center position to teach Kyla and Lety. I think 2024 will be a big recruiting cycle for Baylor.

LSU gets win 21 on season 21-0. Beat Tennessee Alexis Morris has 31 points.

Yeah, he showed her! Baylor AD can keep a woman in her place, that's for sure.

Yes, Any new coach should be given 3-4 years to implement their system and get their own recruits before being on hot seat.

Also the fact is that if we could play a 100% healthy Ajiah Blackwell, this would be a very different team this year. Her last year at Missouri she averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds per game. She was 2nd in rebounds in country last year. Nicki was counting on her for inside help under basket and rebounding.

Also as you mentioned, I do not care who we hire, unless it is Tara, Geno or Dawn, they are not going to come in here and immediately maintain the program Kim had when she left. That is totally unrealistic.

No one needs her to be Kim. Just don't be closer to Sonja Hogg than to Kim.

I gave you a blue star and I get it...If anything I should be mad as Heck with Kim for leaving us...but it is what it is our WBB program will always be linked with her HOF career. She has a few over top detractors who said that she was more or less washed up...that kind of talk is just silly. CNC will always be compared and right now Kim is still setting a very high bar. Also Morris was a great freshman for us and our Point guard of the future at the time before she got dismissed from the program by ironically, Kim. Now to see her make a full circle back to Kim for her final two years and perform at such a high level is pretty neat. I tell you what with Angel Reese inside and Morris outside along with some really good pieces like a national freshman of the year candidate, Super SR Post player who knows what she is doing and a three-point sniper. She has something really good.

Good for Kim. However at this point, I am more interested in what is going on with our team. I am sure that those who want to closely follow what is going on with Kim's team at LSU can do that on the LSU fan forum.

CNC came rolling into town with a career 28-52 record, (IIRC), and has truly given us her best effort, IMO. It remains to be seen if that effort will be good enough going forward.

so we can't follow a HOF Baylor coach on here? Strange since there are Rhule posts, KB posts, etc. Maybe people don't want to follow her bc we would be a top 3 team with her.

Exactly

I'd personally be embarrassed to be a LSU fan. Their team top to bottom plays like a bunch of thugs with no sportsmanship of their opponent (which is mostly HS teams)

Both offenses were pathetic last night. It was brick and hope for a rebound… repeat. Neither look well coached

Man you TRULY are a special kind of stupid!! Thugs?? Lol really?? Poorly coached?? Yeah 21-0 and coached by a 3x time champ. That's one piss poor coached team. Show us how it's done Sicem45 you clown. If those were two poorly coached teams I'd hate to hear your thoughts on our mediocre squad

Is LSU overrated at #3? We will find out on Feb 12 when they travel to SC to face the Lady Cocks.

Wouldn't it be normal for the #3 team to lose to the #1 team especially on their home court?? Why would that make them overrated if they lose to them.?

Is Stanford overrated? That's actually a more legit question. Stanford lost to SC and it was at home. Oh yes and they also lost to an un-ranked team by nine points. And that un-ranked team has 5 losses. So do they really deserve to be #2? Maybe not but who deserves to be in their place? Both LSU & SC have gone to Alabama and won, but LSU won by 38 !!! SC won 10. Unless LSU gets blown out by more than 25 points I'd think they deserve a top 5 ranking.

***After posting this I read back over my remarks and I don't think what I said comes off right. I didn't mean to be putting your post down I was just thinking out loud. I actually agree with your suggestion that we will not really know how good/bad they are till they face SC. And I emphasize again that unless they get completely blown out they probably won't drop much at all in the polls.

Kim graduated from HS as Valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. That's a nugget I didn't know but it makes sense. It's her brain more than anything that makes her a winner, except in the eyes of AD.

I dont expect LSU to win but if it is close then they are legit. If they lose by 30 then maybe the weak SEC schedule inflates their ranking.

I do have a question and I'm sure this is answered in KM's book but I can't remember of the top of my head....what was the reason she played for LaTech and not LSU?

La. Tech was the dominant team not only in the State but in the nation.

Kim is now 20-0 in her 2nd yr at LSU. Mack should have negotiated and named Something after her. She deserved a statue. Is there Anything on Baylor's campus that even acknowledges that Kim, the greatest coach in Baylor history who was allowed to stay, coached here? Anything? Kim was absolutely under appreciated. 11 straight Big 12 titles, 3 National Titles, final 4's, elite 8's, sweet 16's, etc. Loyal in her defense of Baylor. S.. she ALWAYS delivered for Baylor. The free publicity her Tournament runs provided Baylor was worth a lot more to Baylor than her so-called financial losses. Baylor's building 2 major athletic buildings right now! Baylor has plenty of $. Baylor would rather keep a "nice" person as a WBB coach who's average, than a once in a lifetime force of nature who delivered Championship teams every year.

What you wrote has literally been my exact thoughts. I would add, I don't understand why we allowed her to leave in the first place. I've read some conjecture on it. My take is she didn't feel appreciated. Even though the sports loses money each year, I think the positive exposure it brought was worth it.

I lost a lot of respect for Rhoades in letting her walk.
Bearprof

He didn't let Mulkey walk, she walked. She was already one of the highest-paid coaches in WWB. Less than a month after the Men won the NC, she left. That's on her. Always the best of luck to her except if she plays BU.

Now they're just an afterthought if that. My fear is that could be in BU WBB future. There are many here that couldn't care less or would be happy about it. Regardless, Kim brought quality prominent recognition to BU nationally.
