Just a master class today by CKM on how to pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
No doubt you creamed in your jeans as a result.

This is Texas game to lose, LSU had chances in the 1st half to blow it open and failed to do so

Mulkey was 3-0 while at Bu against Schaefer when he was at UT.
Fairly certain the broadcast crew said something about this being the first time Mulkey has lost in Austin since 2011.
Think both squads are in the small group of legitimate national title contenders. UConn and ND imo are the two to beat.
WV 2014 was a tough loss. Very frustrating outcome, considering every Baylor fan in attendance that day expected to witness the celebration of another outright Big XII Title (along with the ceremonial cutting down of the nets).whitetrash said:IowaBear said:

January 2010. After BU lost in Lubbock in 2011 to go 15-1 that year, the next loss in conference play was at home to WV in 2014.
The BG game was in 2010 (her freshman season).BUVA said:
Was that loss in Lubbock the infamous BG's fist, meet JB's face game?
Correct. I wasn't there but I visited afterwards with some fans who made the trip and said it was a scary situation. Tech did little to control their fans' behavior. We haven't lost to them since.LTBear19 said:The BG game was in 2010 (her freshman season).BUVA said:

The 2011 game was in front of a hostile Lubbock crowd if I remember correctly (the fans there were ready to taunt BG for the previous year's incident).
Was a very odd game - almost felt like a give-away game. Kind of like we didn't care whether we won or lost - but just wanted to get it over with and get out of town as quickly as possible.
Does anyone else remember that being the case?
They never have done much of anything to control their fans' behavior......in any sport......and anywhere for that matter.whitetrash said:Correct. One tough conference for sure. If SC, LSU, TX, UT, OU, KY& Ole MS were in the Big 12 I suspect TCU, BU & KST would be battling for 8th placeIowaBear said:

Vanderbilt as well they were good when we played them in the tournament last year and they have been on and off ranked this season as well.
Jordyn Oliver has grown into a power forward. Hard to believe she used to be Didi's backup at the point. Her coach calls her a glue player.BUVA said:Baylorwbbb said:

Their player Blakes, who has scored in the 40s and 50s, isn't even a starter! And Jordyn Oliver is a starter
Not sure she was even that. I may recall incorrectly, but when Didi went down against UConn in her last game, Andrews was inserted. But neither Andrews or Oliver were given much meaningful playing time behind Richards during the season, even in blowouts. Neither were prepared for SS or E8 type of games.BU71 said:Jordyn Oliver has grown into a power forward. Hard to believe she used to be Didi's backup at the point. This is true. Even walking into the arena, there were hostile stares and taunts directed towards BU fans and some of the things being yelled at extreme volume toward Brittney and our team were over the top and downright disgusting. And at least half of it by grown ups and grandparent types. The police and security guards were right there in the vicinity and never said a word, like they were there to actually protect the perpetrators.whitetrash said:Correct. I always wondered why they didn't get more PT. I think it hurt us in the UConn game. Sarah came in and played but I think she would have done better if she'd had more PT. I remember thinking that Jordyn might leave after that and sure enough she did.blackie said:Not sure she was even that. No one ever said it, but I think KM was concerned about margin of victory. And it might have been because of a perceived weakness of the conference. There were certainly games where we had a 30 point lead and she put the reserves in the last 10 minutes or so. If they let the lead lessen even a little (even though very comfortable for a win) she would put the starters back in. I guess sometimes it might have been to teach them something, but it seems if they don't get to play when the game dictates they can, how are they going to get game experience. And heck, the lead was built by the starters. Why should it not shrink a little when they are taken out? I too think that bit us in the butt in the UConn game.BU71 said:I always wondered why they didn't get more PT. I think it hurt us in the UConn game. Yes, I heard the same thing. But they were not starters because they were not as good as the starters, otherwise they would have been starting. If you base their continued playing on maintaining or building the lead that your starters created, you are putting them into a position that is just not realistic.Bone Squad said:
I don't think she was concerned about the margin in and of itself. But she did frequently say in interviews that when she put the subs in, she expected them to still be able to maintain or even build on the lead. If they demonstrated that they could not meet that standard, they did not get to stay in.
As I said, I don't think this was about margin - it was about mentality. She did not want the subs to treat these are "garbage time" minutes, but an opportunity to show that they were ready to play at a very high standard when their number was called. At least that was the message I took whenever I would hear her talk about it in press conferences.
Regarding the loss to UCONN in 2021 I quote one of the most famous quotes in athletics history..... WE WAS ROBBED !! Carrington wasn't just fouled she was assaulted. I am not saying she would have made the two free throws for the tie .... but she should have had the opportunity ....and it's anybody's ball game from there.LTBear19 said:
Losing to UCONN in 2021, while disappointing, didn't really irk me.
There's no guarantee that we would have held off UCONN in that 2nd half, even if we'd had Andrews and Oliver prepped.
No shame in losing to the GOAT.
Now losing to Oregon State in Dallas in 2016, on the other hand?
That loss should still irk everyone in this forum to this day!
Oregon State had absolutely NO BUSINESS even being on the same floor with us, much less beating us.
