Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas, getting a lot of attention because Lexi Thompson was given a sponsors exemption. Jimmy had a rough day, shot a 3 over 74 so he's near the bottom of the field.

He's 2 back of Lexi

Round suspended for darkness in Las Vegas, but Lexi Thompson is currently 1-over through 16 holes, with three birdies on the day, tied for 76th place in the 132-player field. Impressive performance so far.

Yes, she was very impressive. She would've needed to go birdie/birdie on her last 2 holes to make the cut. One of which was a 250 yd par 3, she hit 2 iron over the green & couldn't save par. After that the last hole was mostly anti-climatic. I think she did great, the whole thing was a win-win-win for the tournament, for golf in general, & for her.

Jimmy is playing in the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico this week. They are playing a new course this year....El Cardonal. This is the first golf course that Tiger has designed.

Jimmy is currently -4 through 13 holes...and that's including a double bogey on a Par 3. The leader is currently at -7 through 15. Nice start from Jimmy.

So this is how it ends.

Jimmy +3 through 15 holes with his round suspended until the morning. A triple on his 7th hole put him in a hole, two birdies since. Needs to finish top 5 to jump into the top 125 of the FedEx standings (he is currently 139th) for the tour card next year.

Otherwise, it's Q School. Frankly, based on his commentary this year, I am leaning towards he is done professionally if he doesn"t retain his card. Although this year, it's just a 4 round weekend at Sawgrass to finish top 5 there to get a card, so maybe that will be his last chance.

I could see him packing things up and waiting for the Champions tour.

He still shows flashes of being able to compete on tour....but that grind has to get old.

I did not realize Jimmy was playing this week. I guess maybe since it is in Texas.

The San Antonio event is considered his 'home game'.

JW had a T22 here last year. Hopefully he has a better showing than last week.

Uneventful day; 2 over 74 (4 bogeys, 2 birdies), way down the leaderboard. Will likely need to shoot something around 3 under tomorrow just to squeak in under the cut.

Jimmy has actually moved up eight places without even playing yet. That tells you how tough it is out there.

I think the wind is supposed to pick up more in the afternoon as well. I've seen people projecting the cut at +1 which would mean he needs to go 1 under.

He's playing in the Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic this week, the opposite field event from the main RBC Heritage. He's doing pretty good; made the cut pretty easily - T36th after 2 rounds. Shot -1 today and fell to T43rd currently.

He is obviously wanting to try and stick with it which is good to see.... Or maybe just trying to keep his game sharp waiting for champions league eligibility.

JW is playing the Byron this week and tees off at 1 PM today.

The scores are always low at the Byron. Hopefully he gets off to a fast start.
