I have witnessed this on a couple of podcasts by left-wing, pro-abortion talking heads. They seems completely flummoxed that Europe has much more restrictive abortion laws than the U.S. This is like so many issues where the extremists control the narrative. A European-style law likely could have passed, but the pro-abortion radicals will only settle for fourth trimester abortion.

Unfortunately, the DOJ is made up of lawyers and not home builders so they don't know what a residence is. Otherwise, Garland might be able to enforce the law.

Just read a stat: 80% if US are pro-choice, a supermajotity. Saying because of that Roe should not be overturned.

I disagree, that has nothi to do with law. If there truly is a Supermsjority, pass an amendment. Pass abortion rights in State law. That is where it should be determined, not by court case.

Similarly to Obamas Stanford speech, all the "code" patches he listed when comparing Constitution to computer code were Amendments or laws. Pass the laws, let Congress and Legislatures do their jobs, not Courts.

polls are all about how one asks the question. If one asks "do you support overturning Roe?" one gets a strong "no" number. That's because Dems have very effectively portrayed "overturning Roe" as "outlawing abortion."

If one asks "do you believe abortion should only be allowed in situations involving rape, incest, or life of mother?" one gets a very strong "yes" number. That speaks to the fact that pro-lifers have won the argument that abortion is morally wrong and should not be just another form of birth control.

Looking at all polls/all ways, what we see is that about 55-60% of the public supports abortion law MORE restrictive than Roe, and that the support for restrictions rises as high as 85% as the length of term of the pregnancy increases. That's why the release of the draft opinion had almost no impact on polling on the coming election. The pro-life crowd has won the moral argument on the issue. As states start passing laws that fit public opinion within their jurisdiction, the issue should wane quite a bit, becoming mostly a part of feminist litany. And given that Democrats are still welded to the social justice boilerplate, feminist issues will tend to divide their base.

men can have abortions, too, dagnabbit!

Post the poll, i havent seen a single poll that supports Roe v Wade. Most are about 50/50 leaning towards the SCOTUS decision of overturning it.

No poll I have seen shows it at as top concern of the people.

It was quoted in a Fox News Opinion piece. My point is even if true, allowing "bad law" is not the answer. The Supreme Court is to evaluate policy against the laws of the land, Roe is bad law. It is the Legislature's job to write the law.

If the Legislature (elected representatives of the people) want to abortion to be a right, the remedy is to follow the legislative process and pass either an Amendment at the Federal level or State law at the State level.

I am not going to get into the morals or mores of the actual act. I am not for abortion and believe Fathers and Grandparents have gotten screwed in this whole deal. But, that is not how you get policy done. Put it to the people, we are a representative Republic.

100%. It is frustrating we do not have talking heads, "journalists," and politicians that can think complexly and understand nuance. One can both be pro-abortion and acknowledge this is not a federal issue and certainly now one for the courts to make laws.

As I stated before, if abortion is overwhelmingly popular, then every state will pass a law that allows it. The reality is some abortion is favored but not the extreme positions, and as we know the Democrat Party is run by the extremists, so something like a 15-week provision would never pass Democrat muster.

I agree with the other posters that 99% of poll respondents really do not understand the question. There is a wide gap between those that support limited abortion and those that want fourth trimester abortion.

Politico By a nearly 2-to-1 margin, voters oppose overturning Roe v. Wade, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted immediately after POLITICO published a draft opinion from the Supreme Court that would eviscerate the 1973 precedent guaranteeing federal abortion rights.

Half of voters (50 percent) say Roe v. Wade should not be overturned more than the 28 percent who say it should be overturned. More than 2-in-10 voters, 22 percent, are undecided, according to the poll.

Our pastor (to my great surprise) addressed the abortion topic in his sermon yesterday. One of the main takeaways was to say that if we as Christians want for there to be fewer abortions or for abortions to go away, then we as Christians have to make women feel confident that they will not be alone and will have support in all different ways from their community.

Might actually have been one of the best sermons I've heard this pastor give.

There are more crisis pregnancy centers than unPlanned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities. These centers give the women options to abortion, help them apply for financial assistance, and counsel them. Did your pastor care to tell the congregation that help is actually available to women?

Not that simple, complex issue still a woman's body and she has a right to make that descion. Maybe all the superstitious self righteous folks out there should spend their time trying to help the 500,000 kids under the age of 5 that die from disease and starvation instead of standing outside clinics holding a sign thinking they're the judge etc. No issue is black and white. Try to be less judgemental and more open to learning and understanding all points of view. It will take you out of the dark. I see both sides of this issue but lean towards the individual. Sometimes talking to christians is like talking to flat earthers they ignore all the evidence that we have today that shows religion all faiths are simply man-made ideas to give themselves Hope of a life after this one. God in man's formats sacrifice pre dates Christianity by thousands of years. Former Christian here and then I see the self righteous bull crap being spewed and it makes me sick..live love and learn.

Absolutely and encouraged those that were led to volunteer and/or give at a few different organizations and gave the contact information for them.

His point was that women might feel more comfortable and consider keeping the child if they felt they would receive Christian love and support through the pregnancy and beyond if they did not feel as judged for their "Bad Decisions"

As I said, Christians have invested heavily in pro-life support for unplanned pregnancies. And yes, unplanned pregnancies outside of marriage are the result of bad decisions and usually more than one bad decision. Recognizing that fact is the other side of the same coin.
